One of the most beautiful spots in all of Venezuela! Based at the foot of the Andes Mountains you have a nice climate (perfect for hiking) and wonderful views. Take advantage of having Pico Bolivar (Venezuela's highest peak) right nearby. Also, don't be reluctant to take in the night life that exudes fun in this part of the country. You won't be disappointed.

Description

Merida, officially Santiago de los Caballeros de Merida, is a city in western Venezuela. Its Andean foothill location makes it a major hub for regional tourists, many of whom head into the mountains for hiking and trekking. Casual visitors will enjoy easy day hikes to nearby mountain towns, while more experienced hikers can test their merit on Pico Bolivar, the country’s highest peak. Parks, churches and monuments dot the city and make for a continuously interesting walking environment. Merida’s many universities (30% student population) birth a vibrant nightlife scene that goes all night long in any of the many bars and clubs on tap.
