Metropole is located in one of the best spots on the Beach, mostly because its centrally located to a lot of great places, but on a fairly quiet (through traffic jammed) street. Regardless of the location, stepping into this boutique hotel immediately transports you to a serene hideway. I was most impressed by the gorgeous, handcrafted wooden bench that looked like it grew out of a tree. The Metropole has a small wading pool, which despite its a size is a gift for a South Beach hotel this close to the beach. The rooms are basically apartments; in fact, they once were. Each is furnished with an italian kitchen, spacious living and dining areas, pullout sofas and big cozy beds. The only downside is that they are furnished with dark colors and the curtains usually drawn to hide the less-than-impressive view. I would recommend this hotel to a family looking for a peaceful refuge, or a traveler looking to stay close to the Beach's best shopping.Recommended for:

The only problem with these apartment hotels is that they are so spacious and comfortable you won't want to leave your room. It is a unique spot in South Beach because it feels like a swanky high-end apartment. There is a fully renovated kitchen, living room, dining room, and separate bedroom, all immaculately designed with modern furnishings. The hotel doesn't have many amenities but you'll enjoy feeling like a local in the heart of South Beach. It used to be a hidden gem until the set of Jersey Shore descended on the place like a swarm of drunk, hedonistic locusts. The courtyard is a lovely hangout spot but the tiny pool is more or less a birdbath. Also, the lighting is very dark, but might be welcoming for the night owl types.Recommended for:

We booked a suite with two bedrooms but the facilities some are broken and not really well maintained. But the good thing is the location is really convenient and they offer free shuttle to airport.
