- Mi Casa en CozumelFirst to ReviewFeb 04, 2014
I’ve been a huge fan of Mi Casa en Cozumel since I first stayed there in 2009. It’s a gorgeous hotel with a modern Mexican esthetic, which blends the indoors with the outdoors, has sleek straight lines, and a warmth that comes from simplicity. The rooms are streamlined and cozy with soft linens, private patios or balconies (many with views), beautiful woodwork and bathrooms that integrate stones into the floors. Just walking through the front door makes me happy—it’s like walking into the pages of Dwell magazine. A plunge pool for cooling off and reading areas here and there seal the deal for me. Definitely one of my all-time favorite places to stay in Cozumel.Recommended for:

I’m surprised Cozumel doesn’t have more modern boutique hotels like this one. Mi Casa was the only one for a long time, until Hotel B opened north of town. I’ve always really liked Mi Casa, with its tall multi-floor layout and up-to-date design and aesthetic. The rooms are all unique, from smallish hotel rooms, to one-bedrooms with kitchen, to a grand top-floor suite with a patio and private hot-tub. I’m not crazy about the new hand painted headboards, but otherwise the décor is artful and classy. Only a couple units have air-con; the owner-architect said the whole place is designed to maximize airflow, and I personally never felt the need for a/c. It’s toward the southern end of downtown, but still walkable to the plaza, shopping etc.
