It’s rare for anyone in any part of the world (Britain included) to utter “Oh! I’m in the mood for British food!” It has long been a cuisine with a poor reputation, but that’s changing. Mildreds is not only riding the wave of the British food Renaissance, but also helping pioneer it, by making spectacular versions of classics like bangers and mash and ale pie and turning them into something not just creative and inspiring, but also completely vegetarian.Recommended for:

I was really impressed by the inventiveness of the vegetarian menu. Mildred's has been doing it for a long time, and it shows. A great place for dinner in Soho - not overly trendy, not too pricey.Recommended for:

Vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare exceptionally well done. I had the smoothie as well as a starter and the daily quiche. My artichoke crositini was delicious and the quiche was perfectly done. I got there 20 minutes after opening and easily found a table but within 30 minutes the place was packed. They offer take-away in a buffet style which is nice and one of the biggest problems would be how to choose what to eat? Everything on the menu looked amazing!Recommended for:

I think Mildred's may be my new favorite restaurant in London, and that's saying a lot. The building and atmosphere are lovely, with a very cozy feel. The food was incredible! We shared two dishes, the pumpkin ravioli and the basil risotto cakes. Both were delicious. Mildred's reminds me a lot of another vegetarian institution, Greens's, in San Francisco. I would recommend getting to Mildred's by 5:45 in order to be seated before the dinner rush.Recommended for:

Cordon Bleu standard, British food - it that's not too much of a contradiction. I had their mushroom and ale pie, and had to guard it from my partner who would have eaten it all (and he doesn't even like beer). He had the tarragon sausages with mustard mash, which would have been excellent any other time, but weren't a patch on the ale pie. Everything else we had was excellent too, including their home-made vegan ice cream. They're also knowledgeable about which of their wines are vegan, which sadly not all vegetarian restaurants are.
This place gets packed though! We waited 20 minutes for a table, and it was only 5:30.Recommended for:
