Located on Mississippi Street in North East Portland, Mississippi studios brings in a younger, dare I say “hipper” crowd. This location can be somewhat of a trek if you don’t have a car or bicycle, but it has become one of the staple venues in town to see fantastic live music. Besides that, in general Mississippi Street is an attraction within itself. With more kitschy, one-off shops than you know what to do with, it's a spectacle you should definitely take in. Like most Portland bar/venues, drink prices are very well priced. It’s standard to pay at the most four dollars for a good microbrew, and Mississippi studios is no exception. If and when you’re ready for some food, bar food is plentiful, which is to say you can choose from a variety of the classic American burgers and finger food. However, what makes this place great is the type of bands that are showcased. You will rarely find massive national acts, but instead burgeoning local and national acts that will not cease to surprise you. With an outside patio, bar area and intimate music venue, Mississippi studios needs to go on your Portland list of things to see and do.

Whoever does the booking for this place really knows what they're doing. For many local bands just getting off the ground, a show at Mississippi Studios is considered a good step in the right direction, and it's a wonderful place for people looking to hear what's up-and-coming in Portland's indie music scene.
