If you don't mind staying in an unusual part of LA that's not on the beach, this Japanese American hotel is exactly what the name implies. It combines Japanese design elements (outlandishly technical toilets and deep soaking bathtubs, for example) with Western-style business hotel amenities. The on-site restaurant isn't bad, but it is mighty expensive. Instead walk over to the Japanese supermarket complex just south and enjoy a bowl of ramen in the food court.Recommended for:

From the minute I walked into the hotel lobby to our hotel room, I felt serenity, calm and peacefulness and most important, safe.
The room was awesome! Once you walked in, you need to insert your key into a slot by the door and leave it in there to be able to turn on the electricity for the room.
You take the key out when you leave, and all the electricity power will turn off in a few minutes. A plus to it, you won't misplace your key and know where to look for it... on the electrical slot by the door.
The best part about the room was the bathroom. With it's glass door walk in shower and huge deep Japanese bath tub in one. There is no need to go to a spa for a bath to relax. The water pressure was perfect and the tub filled quickly with water.
Outside the glass door is the rest of the bathroom with Japanese style toilet with heating toilet seat and water pick to clean your booty. :-P The toilet seat came with a side panel to control the bidet features of water pressure, water temperature, and it'seat temperature.
The room itself was impeccable. Very clean, and elegance with a modern, contemporary style to it. The room has more than enough amenity. A large flat screen swivel HD TV, free Wi-Fi, DVD player, I-Phone charger and player, by your bedside there are small swivel reading lights. (Such a smart idea!), Iron and board, single coffee maker, hot water boiler, can openers, small refrigerator, filled with drinks (you have to purchase it), a cabinet filled with snacks (got to purchase it too) a small balcony too, if you want some fresh air.
To be able to work the elevator, you need to slide your room key into a slot. This makes me feel safe and not just anyone off the street can access the rooms. Inside the hotel, there is Gonpachi Restaurant and bar. A spa, and a small convenience/ gift shop.
The hotel is right next to Mitsuwa Marketplace with a Japanese market and lots of delicious Japanese food and restaurants, and a few minutes away from the 405 Freeway and the Del Amo Mall. Excellent customer service and it's one of the best find in the South Bay.
For a moderately priced hotel, it provides an incredible value. 10% off with your AAA card! I will be booking my business associates and family and friends stay here in the South Bay from now on. And as for me, although I live and work minutes from here, I will definitely be staying here for little getaways throughout the year to get away from the stress and relaxRecommended for:

We purchased a one-night staycation here as part of a silent auction for charity and had a fabulous time being pampered by one of the greenest eco-friendly hotels around. The room was spacious, the bed was fluffy and comfortable, and the bathroom! Oh the bathroom -- the shower / tub corner was laid in stone tile and had a large TOTO brand soaking tub perfect for a relaxing bubble bath (BYOB - bring your own bubbles). The concierge was incredibly friendly and helped us hail a cab to our evening destination, making sure that we had their business card on hand so we could find our way back. I would definitely return to check out their spa - not making time for that was my only regret of our stay!
