Moli del Fanals was the best meal that Gayle and I had during our recent trip to Spain (including 1 day in Andorra). It's actually located in Sispony and is a fine restaurant of traditional cooking run buy the family Bellsolà. And I'm pretty sure that the slight woman (Dolors Abad) who greeted us at the door and came to our table after the meal was the Owner and Chef.
The Restaurant is located in a typical Andorran house (with a separate parking lot) and offers wonderful Mountain views to the outside and a warm wood-accented home on the inside. The dishes were simply exquisite and beautifully presented. Gayle had the Conill Cassola (Catalan Style Rabbit with Rissoto Mushrooms), while I swooned over the Pollastre Escamarians (Farm Chicken Stew with Prawns). All this was accented with a nice bottle of Rioja wine, a shared chocolate pie dessert, and coffee. Service was formal, friendly, and attentive. And the room was so comfortable and welcoming that we lingered as long as we could. As Gayle and I were leaving, we agreed that this was truly a "Kick Ass" dining experience.
P.S. - A Moli dels Fanals recipe book is also available, but only in Catalan.
