Gayle and my son last stopped here yesterday on the way back from the Mountain Play. We were in the mood for salad and it's hard to beat this place to put together whatever combination you want. My son (having his mother's more refined sense of taste) found the Sushi Bar and the greek yoghurt. It's too bad that there is not a Mollie Stone's in the East Bay.
Yes, this place can be a bit pricey, especially with the prepared foods. But even then, it's still cheaper than going to a restaurant. And you'll never get a better salad by doing so!
The other thing is that the high-end and specialty selection is so good, that it is easy to get carried away. On the other hand, if I shop carefully I can find prices on par with my local grocery store. Pay attention to the sales circular. Good bargains are contained within.
And as far as the people go, I find Marin folk more interesting and fun to watch than annoying or even snooty. The clerks at Mollie Stone's that I have encountered have been helpfull, hardworking, and friendly. If I have ever noticed an attitude it's been with a customer, not an employee.
