Amazing museum. The MoMa is a must when in NYC. Their collection of art includes many wonderful chefs d'œuvres from Vincent Van Gogh, Monet, famous pop artist Andy Warhol and many other avant garde artists.

Favorite place to spend a relaxing afternoon... sitting in the yard at a sunny afternoon reading a book and staring at art works

I came here for a nanotechnology exhibit and it was by far, the most fascinating exhibit I have EVER been to. I really wish I had saved a flier or brochure with more information about the exhibit because I definitely want to see it again.

When you get tired of the museums that try to present the whole of human history, give the MoMA a try. Limit yourself to modern (and even postmodern) art for a more manageable experience.

Go on Friday afternoon when Target sponsors it. It might be really crowded but you can still see everything.

Great museum to get a grasp of modern art. Has a huge variety of artists and mediums. It can not possibly be all seen in a few hours so set aside a good chunk of your day. The Van Gogh is obviously a crowd pleaser by te photography and design rooms are also fantastic!

I love museums, and the new MoMA is bigger and better, even if the walk ways are vertigo inducing. I love how much more of the collection is on display. I spent hours wandering around the old paintings of the core collection. Go, it's good for the soul...

This is one of our favorite art museums. We especially like going on free night, don't wait in line go about 30 minutes after they start and usually the line is a lot less. Yes it is crowded but that just adds to the experience. You will see some of the original art that you see posters of or pictures in a book. Don't try and see everything just wander and focus on artists that you like.

A Review? Come on. REALLY?? All I can add is that when you get to DC, visit the National Gallery of Art. Dare I say it? I will: it's comparable, but also has seasonal skating, and a brunch/tea, and the most beautiful of indoor and outdoor places to sit and gaze in awe. There. My review of the MOMA :)

An NYC must... one of my favorite museum experiences was when I visited Warhol's Video Exhibit. Check out exhibits and events here:
http://www.moma.org. Entry is free 4-8PM on Fridays.

Considering that most modern art makes me gag (anything past surrealism bores the crap out of me), this is still a fantastic museum that shouldn't be missed! If you hate art, maybe you'll want to skip it, but anyone else should give it a try.

I'm a museum junkie and MoMA's collection is one of my favorites. It was one of the first museums I really enjoyed when I was a kid.

Although not technically a museum for young kids it is fun to run around in and they have a ton of escalators! Gotta love the escalators. I did take one of my young ones on a walk around to some of the exhibits and she had a blast just people watching. They do have an interesting little set-up called the Shape Lab which is off the main museum and has quiet areas to read, draw and do magnetic art on the wall. The best part of the Moma for us however was the café – VERY VERY VERY child friendly and the food is AMAZING!!!! It’s worth the price of admission alone.

The only two words I needed to hear to get me to MoMa were “Starry Night.” I could stare at those globs of paint forever. Once inside, there are so so many more amazing works to explore that you can’t help but feel a little changed when you leave.

The MoMA in NYC houses one of the best collections of art anywhere on Earth. Nowhere else can you meander through the literal masterpieces of Dali, Van Gogh, Picasso, Klimt, etc. Although advertised as "modern art", their collection is admittedly conventional. However, this means they have some of the most revered paintings in the world. They also have pretty cool exhibitions and movie screenings. Definitely worth a visit if you're considering which museums to go to in New York.

An excellent museum, focused on Modern Art.

If you go here, I recommend you start at the top and work your way down - that way you'll see the art in chronological order (the most recent stuff is on the lower floors). To save some money, you may want to try and go on Friday evenings - entrance is free (currently underwritten by Target). Since it's free, it's pretty crowded, so factor that into your decision.

Really cool museum. The only main downside is it costs money. If you do decide to go, you may want to get tickets online: http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/tickets

Museum of Modern Art in New York City is one of the best contemporary art museums of our time in the country. From my visits here, I was always left impressed with the Andy Warhol collection.

It's a very popular museum so come early! Tickets are $20 for adults, and students and seniors get a nice discount, so bring your I.D.s!

MoMa is almost mandatory place to go if visiting New York. Unfortunately even with the vast selection of art there were only two or three of the works that left a lasting memory. That might be enough, though, they were quite astonishing works of art. Otherwise, modern art is perhaps not for everyone. Danger of boredom attacks for small kids.
