Everything you'd ever want from an old Umbrian hilltop town - views, culture, history, great wine, strongozzi, and truffles!
Montefalco over-looks the main valley in Umbria and on the other side of the valley you'll spot Assisi. The town itself is surrounded by vineyards growing the absolutely stunning Sagrantino wine (highly tannic red that mellows after around 7 years of ageing).
We stayed in the superb Villa Pambufetti just outside of the town walls and ate at the gorgeous L'Alchimista Restaurant on the hilltop Piazza which is particularly good for the regional strongozzi pasta.
One day we'll make it back for some more Sangrantino, strongozzi, and truffles.
