Charming seaside resort with an old world nautical feel as well as tranquil oasis. From the decks outside you can hear the waves crashing and occasional mating calls of the sea lions. The resort itself is beautiful, the lobby spacious, a fire burning and piano always playing.
My favorite part of the resort was the spa, located on the top floor overlooking Monterey Bay... With gorgeous views of the Pacific. Do treat you and your spouse for a couples massage and enjoy brunch at the roof terrace in your spa robes. It was deliciously romantic!
Schooners, the Resort restaurant and local favorite, was a superior seafood dining experience.
Excellent wine and cocktail menu. Fire roasted artichoke to start with In Hot Water (a platter crab fondue which was excellent) was a fantastic start. The swordfish was topped with an olive tapenade and I was a fan of this savory, dense dish.
The lemon tart for dessert was the perfect finish.
One star deducted at the Hotel as turn down service only came one night out of three, and ok, but not spectacular room furnishings.

This hotel is known for excellent views though our room
Might as well have been a different hotel entirely. We were put across the street in a room that didn't even seem like part if the exquisite hotel. The bath robes were AMAZING though and the bed comfortable. Defiantly not worth the price though unless you get a room on the ocean side of the street. The protest was nice though. Walking around viewing the beatific pacific from the clean propriety was great.
The location is great too. Near a lot! :)
Basically, if you're going to stay here you might as well be ready to pay an extra $100-$150 for an ocean side room or you'll be wasting your money.

This is my favorite hotel in Monterey, for both location and overall execution of hotel style and luxury. As a Monterey local, I've never actually stayed in the rooms myself, but have had numerous friends stay here and often stop by to eat at the adjacent Schooners Cafe. The hotel is seated right on the Monterey Bay, and by right on, I mean, the balconies of the oceanside rooms are directly above water! It's also very convenient to Cannery Row (it's actually at the far end of it) as well as Old Fisherman's Wharf and Monterey Harbor. This is the place I dream of putting my mom up when she visits. And frankly, I'd get married here!Recommended for:Luxury Travelers

One of the best hotels in Monterey! Perfect location next to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. It's a huge hotel with several buildings, so make sure to get the one right next to the water. Amazing views and great spa. It's a perfect place for a romantic getaway!

Super nice Spa, complete with an outdoor patio where we relaxed in the hot tub after the massages, then enjoyed a drink with some snack next to the fireplace while taking in the sunset, a perfect day!

They have nice towels in their bathrooms....
Not to mention its a nice venue for weddings and what not with their multiple balconies and windows overlooking the water. The dark wood decor helps set off that romantic flair as well.
During fourth of july they also have a bbq, music, beer thing going on open to the public on their promenade area which was very nice and festive.

Fantastic high-end hotel & spa on the water at the other end of Cannery Row from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Great food, great treatments at the spa, and plenty to do near by: the Aquarium, Cannery Row, rent bikes, rent kayaks, etc. Short drive to Carmel and the 17 mile scenic drive.
