Kind of the Greenwich Village of Paris. Upmarket bohemian with lots of artsy types that live on independent incomes. This is the real Paris, though it takes a while to get to know the neighbourhood.

Where the Sacred Heart Basilica is at the tops of the city in the 18th district. Great place to see the city from!

Montmarte is home to rolling hills, wonderful climbing stairs, delicious coffee shops, the studios of artists including past legends like Dalí, Claude Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso. Also a great place to stay while visiting Paris because of the availability of cheap flats.

of course it is very touristic and you really shouldn't let yourself paint here, but he, it is fantastic, the history, the buildings, the sights, and the people. take it all in and just enjoy it...

This artsy area has some of the best views of the city, not to mention great cafes and cute shops.

Самый высокий холм Парижа и один из многочисленных обязательных пунктов для посещения! Место обитания парижской богемы вот уже которое столетие!

Poor painters lived and worked there. Today the area is very expensive
but deserves a visit to see many art galleries

It really is on a hill! From the Sacre Coeur the view is awesome! Don't miss the Moulin Rouge (somewhat disappointing to see, didn't go in)

One of the few places in Paris I do not enjoy. Too many people, cheap goods for sale and a pervading sense of sleaze here.
