People don't usually think about taking a lovely lady or handsome gent to Korean BBQ, let alone an AYCE restaurant, but I think that Moodaepo Rowland Heights can be a top contender as a low key fun date option. Carnivores embrace yourself!
Unlike most restaurant patrons at a Korean BBQ joint are given the opportunity to slab on a few strips of meat on the grill and play chef for the day. This is a great interactive activity where you won't just be showing off your mad cookin' skills but also showing your special guest your impeccable taste in proteins. The Prime Pork Cheek was by far my favorite cut with the pork belly a close second. But you really can't go wrong with any of the beef or pork options here.
Afraid that the robust aroma may leave you with bad breath? No worries Moodaepo's got you covered. They also have a gargle dispenser in the bathroom for all the ladies and gents to freshen up and seal the deal without having to worry about whether or not you brought mints. Nice! But if you're really not confident in your cookin' skills, don't worry they also have a great lunch special menu. I highly recommend the Bulgogi Soup With Rice Cake and Vegetable entree as it was flavorful and delightful. It's definitely the type of food that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Lastly, the restaurant setting and customer service reps were outstanding. The servers and host were all friendly and courteous, and restaurant environment was both elegant and modern, a stark contrast from many other AYCE Korean BBQ establishments.

So I get this random email from one of my buddies Wendy about a private tasting here at Moo Dae Po and if I am down to go. Well after checking my calendar can you say OHHHH YEAH!!!
Well the staff and owner here went all out to show us what they have and what everything tastes like. It was a very impressive showing to say the least.
The banchan was plentiful and of the types and styles that you expect and anticipate. As usual, I didn’t waste my gullet on banchan… I am at a KBBQ for heavens sake! Bring on the beautiful wonderful beefy and porky tastiness!!!
Well I was not to be disappointed as they had some extremely tasty cuts of meat for us to sample including marinated and unmarinated rib meat (freshly cut at the time of our order and we got to see the chef cut up a number of these pieces) with the bone attached. Both were very good. We also were able to sample the flower steak, shrimps, brisket and some onions at the beginning on the first round. This was aided by some beer tubes I believe filled with Hite. If you know KBBQ then you know Hite haha if you don’t know it then you may not be into KBBQ.
We were also presented with an outstanding bulgogi beef soup. It was awesomely tasty! Chunks of glass noodles, bulgogi, a mochi like item, mushrooms, and cabbage I believe. This was my favorite non kbbq item of Korean origin I have eaten and rivals a number of my favorite hotpot/ramen style restaurants. Worth coming here just for that IMHO.
Pro Tip: They have a vegetarian option… I was stumptified as well and utterly shocked.
On top of that we were able to order items off of the menu to sample. We then tried thin sliced pork belly, regular pork belly and rib finger meat. The rib finger meat was slightly tougher as it was cut right off the bone but it was packed full of awesome flavor! The pork belly was tasty, especially as I hadn’t had it thinly sliced before. It was almost like pork belly brisket rolls… Awesome!
The shrimp was pretty tasty too! I don’t know about the other seafood but some folks were ordering it, just not me.
They also have flavored SoJu! Yes this was a big hit with me. I especially loved the lemon flavored one as it tasted just like lemonade and had zero alcohol taste IMHO. The pomegranate was also tasty but not on the same level. A number of my friends truly enjoyed the yogurt flavored version, but I didn’t sample that as I did have to drive home…
Overall this was an outstanding event with very fresh tasty cuts of meat. The meat made the meal IMHO. Everything about the event went off without a hitch and I am greatly appreciative to have been invited to such a nice event. I was also happy to see a number of friends there like Jennilee, Shanon, Natalie, Albert, Matt, Rodney, Randi, and Wendy! Awesome times friends, Awesome times!

How did I ever miss this place in Rowland Heights?! We came here with a few of my friends and was completely satisfied! Who needs to go to Ktown anymore when you have Moo Dae Po in Rowland Heights. :-) You get the same if not, better meat quality, about the same prices, clean and attentive staffs here. Parking is not an issue. No Valet, no pay.. and the restaurant is Clean and comfortable. Restrooms are clean!!
I am VERY picky about my Korean bbq places. Not just the meat has to be outstanding for me to come back to you, the prices, customer service and cleanliness has to be exceptional too. Well, Moodaepo, (as my mom would say it, moo- moo dae po) has met all my expectations.
We learned, aside from Korean BBQ, they also have lunch menus with delicious dishes.
Galbi tang beef rib soup- Delicious!! Love the tenderness of the beef ribs that just melts in your mouth.
bibimbap- I love that the put Alfalfa sprouts in the mixtures of vegetables. It gives it a little side kick. You can limit the spicy red sauce in the dish if you can't take that spicy. It tones down the spice but still gives it a big yummy taste!
Kimchi fried rice- was full of flavor and spice. Really good!
Bulgogi Soup with rice cakes- Definitely a winner for me. I love the rice cakes in the soup. something different and light, especially if you want Korean BBQ! :-)
Now to the Korean BBQ meat!
Prime beef brisket, prime marinate short ribs, flower steak, tiger shrimp, miso pork belly , and pork cheek. Everything was so delicious. Excellent meat quality and tender. My favorite was the flower steak! It was definitely one of the best meat I've ever had!!
My most important meat that I eat at Korean BBQ is brisket. Their brisket did not let me down. Fresh and tasty. Meat did NOT have a foul Oder after it's cooked like some other places I've been to.
Servers were attentive and you get spoiled with them coming around so often to cook your meat for you So often enough towards the middle of your meal, we're so used to it that we forgot to look after the grill ourselves which we are suppose to, and let the meat burnt by accident. lol!
Definitely will be seeing you soon Moo-moo dae po!! Yelpers, don't forget to check in to get your free yummy ice coffee! :-)Recommended for:Foodies

***based on a media event for a complimentary meal***
Parking: large lot (free)
Decor: large and modern (great for birthday parties)
Stench: The ceiling is high, so the ventilation is better here than other BBQ places
Bathroom: 4 stalls; mouthwash available
Meat: One the best quality meat I had, hands down! The chef was really impressive cutting all the rib meats by hand! My favorite: Flower Steak (more marbled), seasoned beef rib, and regular beef rib.
Banchan: Overall, just A OK for me. Some of the dishes felt like it were left out; freshness is important!
Service: Amazing; patient and very informative.
Dinner Pricing: $16.99, $19.99, $24.99, $34.99 for AYCE
Alcohol: Tower Beer which always makes it fun for a party + fruity soju
Overall: it's a great place to have a party and AYCE makes the bill easier to split in the end. Just be aware they have 120 mins limitation and an 18% gratuity
charge for party of 8 or more.

MY FAVE AYCE KBBQ EVER!
+++LOCATION! Ktown status kbbq minus the traffic. I love it.
+++Meat quality: While it's not the best quality AYCE meat I've had, it's definitely the best in the 626/909 area!
+++Their thinly-sliced radish paper: ASK FOR THIS! Perfectly complements thin slices of meat like brisket, beef belly, beef tongue, etc. I always go through plates of this. I hate when other restaurants give thick slices of radish because it always overpowers the meat, but at Moodaepo they slice it perfectly!
+++Steamed egg: Comes out piping hot. Don't forget to order this and make sure you let it cool before you shovel it into your mouth!
+++Air vents on the side of the grill = good ventilation
+++Screen projectors: Nothing like watching your fave sports teams and kpop videos side by side. Come for your birthday to have your face plastered on the screens while they play happy birthday!
HITS BUT SOMETIMES MISSES
+++Service: Because there are so many servers and its always busy, each time I go to Moodaepo I never know how service is going to be. One thing I know is that when Jason is working, my table will always be taken care of. He knows my obsession for their radish paper and always refills my dish without me asking. Super friendly and helpful. THANKS JASON!
But sometimes, the servers are just too busy to remember my requests. Last time I went, I asked for my steamed egg 5 times throughout my meal. And each time I asked for the egg, they would bring me a bean paste soup instead. At the end of the meal, they brought me 3 steamed eggs, one right after another. Hmm a bit unorganized in the kitchen? Hopefully they sort everything out!
The parking and wait is a bit of a turnoff but can easily be overlooked since it would be the same elsewhere. Great for big parties and drinking with friends!
