Perfect location for all of the touristy places to visit. Placed along the Liffey River, the hotel is spacious and contemporary. The service is exceptional but that is typical here in Ireland.
- Morrison Hotel
The décor at the Morrison was designed by John Rocha, who is primarily a fashion designer bus also designs home wares, including a range for Waterford Crystal. If you’re familiar with his other design work you’ll know what to expect – good quality finishes in a warm, eastern-ish minimalist style. The hotel has a welcoming feel but it’s been a decade or so since the it opened and it could probably do with an update. The rooms are not a great size considering the four-star rating, but they are pleasant and clean and the bathroom was fine. It’s worth trying to get a room that faces onto the river outside.
The location is good – central but not as noisy as Temple Bar across the river. There’s good shopping in the nearby Henry Street area.Recommended for:

The lobby of the Morrison Hotel is downstairs from the main entrance, sort of in the basement. I thought this a bit odd, but on reflection I really like the idea that the business side of things (checking in, paying) is kept separate from the living areas. The hotel is beautifully designed—lots of dark wood and low lighting—and somehow manages to make you feel at home in what is otherwise a very elegant place. The room wasn’t particularly spacious, but what space it had was used efficiently. This is one of the few hotels I’ve been to where real thought was put to the design of the fitness area: it’s spread over two levels, with a 20-m glass wall overlooking a sunlit central courtyard. It’s a location fit for, well, a grand, ego-boosting lobby. It says something about a hotel that prioritizes the well-being of its guests over its own self-image.Recommended for:
