    El Born

    5 reviews

My first taste of Vermut on moving to Barcelona was experienced in El Born - located on the Paseo del Born, and previously a grocery store (check out the monochrome photos of it's past life above the bar), El Born is an intimate and charming cafe-bar very close to my heart and luckily for me close to my doorstep! With ...

I only went to the gift shop which was nice enough. I read reviews that said the museum is really not worth the price of admission. It was nine Euro per person and from what I could see from the entrance it did not look like a very extensive exhibit.

    Barri de La Ribera

    2 reviews

La Ribera (or The Shore) is one of the many neighbourhoods that Gayle and I strolled through during our recent trip to Barcelona. Many of the buildings date from late Medieval times. It was a well-to-do quarter during 13th-15th centuries, when it really was by the sea shore. In fact, the area that today is named Barceloneta was still an ...

Very cool, outdoor bar/cafe. Lots of locals go here for drinks and smokes with friends. They also have an old theatre inside (hence the name) where different bands play every night. There's a cute orange cat that wanders the patio looking for scraps.

The Arxiu Fotographic de Barcelona was a real find. It's located on the second floor of the historical Convent de Sant Agusti and might be easy to miss if your plan is to visit the Museu de la Xocolata on the Ground Floor and not look up from your Hot Chocolate. Gayle was ready to move on when I suggested ...

Sexy little cocktail bar lounge. Nice atmosphere, low lighting, nice decor and easy to have a conversation (the music is not too loud and the tables are not too close together). Also they have some unique and delicious cocktails for only five Euro each including choices like strawberry mojito (with real strawberries) and an apple colada. Personally I really loved ...

This tiny shop on Brosoli street is the place for a unique Barcelona-made souvenir. Eco-friendly (vegetable tanned) Lubochka leather bags designed and made in Barcelona as well as local clothing brand "Name." Gallery, bookshop and occasional event space - Mutt has a strong following of local designers and design-lovers passing through it's doors. Not only a space to discover new art, design and publications, the people-watching opportunities are distracting and a strong suggestion of the local crowd's distinctive style. Catch an opening night event if you happen to be in town - ...
