On a three day trip to New Orleans, I ended up coming to Mother's twice. That's right. Twice.
With their amazing Po' Boys (enhanced with the burnt bits of roasted beef), "world's best baked ham," and a bowl of beans and rice, you may find yourself coming back for seconds too.
Check out their website and familiarize yourself with what you want before coming. I've heard you'll be frowned upon if you don't order efficiently.Recommended for

Get here early to stand in line for these popular po boys and Cajun dishes served cafeteria style. This is a very popular local favorite. The Ferdi Special is the famous po boy with ham, roast beef, and "debris".

Get in line, and early. (The line during the lunch rush will wrap the building.) Get a Ferdi or a Roast Beef Debris. ("Debris" is the pieces of meat that fall off the roast while it's cooking--think pulled pork.) Order it "dressed" that means pickles, cabbage, and creole mustard. Get an order of french fries as well--though'll you'll never finish them all. Stock pile that napkins, you'll need them.

I LOVE Mother's! If it's out of the way, I suggest you go out of your way to get there. If there's a long line, stand in it. Long lines are usually there for a reason. People line up for good food! It's worth it.
Their shrimp po-boy was delicious and I never knew I liked bread pudding until I've had Mother's. Their bread pudding is a MUST!!!!
