If you are looking for a breathtaking panoramic view of Athens, then you should visit Mount Lycabettus and especially reach its peak. The view to the city is unique and there you'll have the chance to have a coffee or a soda to relax and enjoy the view.

You can use a car to reach the Mount but if you want to visit the top you will have to walk a little bit. However, i suggest you try walk the Mount from the foot to its top without using a car - it will be a great adventure!

The ride up Mount Likavitos on the cable-car railway (teleferique) is often a hit with kids. It operates every 20 minutes in summer (7€ round-trip).

Maybe you took one look at this green mountain rising out of the center of Athens and said to yourself "I hope there is nothing important up there because I really don't feel like climbing a mountain". There is something important up there. An amazing view. Also a great cafe, not to mention an ampitheatre. In fact I would say that between Lycabettus and the Theatre of Herod Atticus below the Acropolis, there is no more impressive place to see your favorite band or musician. And you don't have to climb. There is a strange looking funicular that will take you almost to the top. Walking down is a lot more fun and you never know which neighborhood you are going to end up in.
If climbing Lycabettus seems too daunting then make sure you see Philopapou Hill across the road from the Acropolis.

Enjoying a nice drink with beautiful music on the Lycabettus watching the city lights turn on while night fell over Athens, was one of the best things that happened to me this summer.

Amazing view of all Athens reaching up to Piraeus. One of the best places to live if you like being close to the center and not irritated by the heavy traffic

A special momumental hill-the landmark of Athens, along with the Parthenon.
It is great for ascending, relaxing, taking deep breaths and enjoy the city from really above.

One of the 7 hills of Athens can be climbed by "teleferik" for an Athen's romantic night view...
And for the single ones, there are also concerts taking place in the theatre of Lycabettus mostly during the summer.

This is an amazing place! The Mount stands above Athens and from its top you have an amazing view of the entire city. Twilight is the best time to venture up this abrupt peak at 745 ft. There is a shuttle service to get up high at the top of the mount and if you want to relax and have something to drink there is the Horizon Cafe-restaurant. If it is a clear day you can see as far as the Peloponessos. History come through when visiting the adorable little white church of Saint George. When I was little and lived in Athens, I really loved this place and it was always on our list for when our relatives would come spend a few days with us in Athens. It really brings back good memories…
