If you’re after a unique view while you shop, you can’t do better than Europe’s highest Christmas market on Mt. Pilatus Kulm at 2,132 meters above sea level. In additional to the traditional shopping stalls, you’ll also find a wide variety of music options - including a local DJ! Won't be in town for the holidays? There are a variety of restaurants and a swanky hotel on the mountaintop as well.

On a clear day you can see..... This is a great way to spend a day. We took the boat, then the cog railway (world's steepest). Coming down we took the gondola and the cable car. Terrific and yes, it was much colder at the top. Great Swiss experience.

if you get a chance to do this, don't think twice. Grab the gondola up the mountain, spend some time up there. Climb up to the top and catch the breathtaking view of Lake Lucerne, learn about the legend of the dragon Pilatus, and sit in the main terrace. There are some military blankets around, first come first serve, and get cozy and warm while enjoying a nice lunch.
Watch the paragliders jump off the mountain and soar in the air in front of you as well as the hikers making it to the top after a long climb up. Note: Swiss are very outdoorsy people and really get out in droves during the weekend.
Then take the cog wheel train back to ground level and catch the train back to Lucerne. A great way to spend the day in Switzerland!
