The beer! The variety, the selection, the ever changing taps...I can always find something I want to try. As for food, the pretzel is pretty good. The salad with the chicken is rather remarkable: As in, worth remarking about 'cause you don't really go in with high expectations for a random salad at a beer place/burger bar but then it ...

    The Milk Pail Market

    3 reviews

Another good spot to pick up picnic food. It's a little grocery store specializing in European produce. You can pick up lots of specialty cheese at a good bargain. The vegetables are also very fresh, varied and reasonable. Add bread and a selection of spreads and you've got the perfect picnic spread.

    Mountain View Farmer's Market

    7 reviews

I came here for the first time a couple weeks ago and can't believe I haven't been before! Parking is ridiculous...the back-log from people trying to pull into the lot creates traffic. The market takes place in half of the Caltrain parking lot, hence limited parking. Either get there early for about 2-3 hours in and you might find a ...

    Laser Quest

    3 reviews

Aaaaaaaaaaah....this place brings back the memories of my youth. It's so fun to carry a laser gun and shooting people, just like the Rebels vs. Stormtroopers. Located in Mt. View, this place is great for large groups or work offsites. You can split into teams and play Capture the Flag or free-for-all, where you get to shoot everyone!!! It's like ...

    Shoreline Lakeside Park

Beautiful park just beyond the Shoreline Ampitheater. Come here for a picnic or row a boat. I opted to row a canoe, and it's fun! $18 per hour or so and bring a few friends. It's fairly relaxing.

Free hiking trails that snake through forest and chapparal. Fun for families and people going out for a short walk. Can get some nice views of the bay in certain places. Not enough trail/too popular/not allowed for backpacking.

    Mountain View Public Library, The

    4 reviews

I wish my local library could be as awesome as this two-story public library in Mountain View. They have large, quiet rooms for people to study and plenty of nooks and corners for you to get lost in. I haven't checked out books from MVPL yet, but I do have my own library card. I first discovered this place a ...

NASA Ames Research Center visitor gift shop

    4 reviews

Naturally I had to shop after our behind-the-scenes tour was done. Very nice selection of items for space fans of all ages. Found a very nice and reasonably priced clothing item for my husband. Another woman's five-year-old was ecstatic about everything, as I imagined my husband might've been at that age. Some nice collectibles, too, amongst the tchotchkes.

Had an egg and ham bagel sandwich here at the cafe on the top level. Pretty good tasting, and much quieter here than nearby Red Rock Cafe.

I'm not sure what possessed me to spend 5 hours at this particular REI, but yeah, that's what happened yesterday! :) I guess it helps that there are wonderful REI workers like Sarah who made me feel really welcomed and took the time to help me choose the right products for my upcoming adventures. This REI has a large parking ...

Savvy Cellar Wine Bar & Wine Shop

    4 reviews

Wine flights are pretty good. Cool place to drink, munch, and laugh the afternoon away with friends. And hey, if you've drunk a bit much, the train station is right next door. Wine selection appears a bit limited, but maybe that's their know, small focus and all.

    Stevens Creek Trail

Good trail for runners and bikers. Easily accessible and bring you right into the natural area near the bay and shoreline. Serene and beautiful. Several water fountains throughout the trail. Wish there are mile markers. There are some amount of traffic on the weekends but doesn't seem to get too busy. The map on their website has useful information on ...

    Mervyn's Lounge

    3 reviews

This dive bar is really tiny. Unless you come here early (or very lucky), it is unlikely to find anywhere to sit. It is even difficult to find a spot to stand. Mervyn's Lounge is not a place to hang out with friends. Come here to get your pre-party cheap drinks. $3 per drink beats happy hour in many places.

    Zen Lounge

    7 reviews

Pluses: Big dance floor, creatively placed bar and private rooms upstairs for groups. People you can tell here are clearly more drunk than usual, given that there are folks who dance on tables and what not. Negatives: None really, other than the fact that people here seem to easily drop and spill their drinks.
