    Shoreline Lakeside Park

3160 N Shoreline Blvd., Mountain View
    16 reviews

The aquatic center is awesome! I wanted to come out here to take some pics around the lake and get out of the house. They have lessons here for windsurfing, paddle boarding + single/double kayak and paddle boat rentals. You can rent by the hour or half/full day. Lessons aren't that expensive either. Definitely worth it for some physical activities ...

Free hiking trails that snake through forest and chapparal. Fun for families and people going out for a short walk. Can get some nice views of the bay in certain places. Not enough trail/too popular/not allowed for backpacking.

1401 North Shoreline Boulevard, Mountain View, CA 94043-1311
    22 reviews

Ah. Finally a geek heaven made just for me! Wander through isles of old and fantastic computers. Find right there with a label, the first computer you ever owned. Nearby is a gallery of ancient hand-held calculators. Some days the docents give demos of the very first real computers from MIT. They also have a fun gift store and wow, ...

    Mountain View Farmer's Market

    7 reviews

I think this is the biggest and most diverse farmers market on the mid-peninsula (much better than what's on offer in Menlo Park or Palo Alto). Tons of booths bursting with fresh produce, honey, and fresh baked goods. It can be packed, so come prepared to jostle a bit.

Airship Ventures Zeppelin Tours -- CLOSED

Building 20 South Akron Road, Moffett Field, CA
    4 reviews

Talk about a unique experience. Sure, it's expensive, but there's nothing like cruising around the Bay at 1300' altitude at the leisurely place of 35 mph to watch the scenery unfold in a freakin *zeppelin* of all things. Headquartered at Moffett Field, a former airship base in Mountain View. Check out their Geek Tour:

The best place to visit when it comes to out door gear. I bought camping equipment here and was not disappointed. The staff are always very helpful and will point you to the best deals and most efficient products for your adventure. REI products are very good quality, my backpack has lasted me 5 years and counting!

    Mountain View Public Library, The

585 Franklin Street, Mountain View, CA 94041-1906
    4 reviews

I wish my local library could be as awesome as this two-story public library in Mountain View. They have large, quiet rooms for people to study and plenty of nooks and corners for you to get lost in. I haven't checked out books from MVPL yet, but I do have my own library card. I first discovered this place a ...

NASA Ames Research Center visitor gift shop

    Clark Rd, Mountain View, California
    4 reviews

Naturally I had to shop after our behind-the-scenes tour was done. Very nice selection of items for space fans of all ages. Found a very nice and reasonably priced clothing item for my husband. Another woman's five-year-old was ecstatic about everything, as I imagined my husband might've been at that age. Some nice collectibles, too, amongst the tchotchkes.

Savvy Cellar Wine Bar & Wine Shop

750 West Evelyn Avenue, Mountain View, CA, United States
    4 reviews

Wine flights are pretty good. Cool place to drink, munch, and laugh the afternoon away with friends. And hey, if you've drunk a bit much, the train station is right next door. Wine selection appears a bit limited, but maybe that's their know, small focus and all.

    Stevens Creek Trail

Good trail for runners and bikers. Easily accessible and bring you right into the natural area near the bay and shoreline. Serene and beautiful. Several water fountains throughout the trail. Wish there are mile markers. There are some amount of traffic on the weekends but doesn't seem to get too busy. The map on their website has useful information on ...

    Mervyn's Lounge

236 Castro Street, Mountain View, CA, United States
    3 reviews

This dive bar is really tiny. Unless you come here early (or very lucky), it is unlikely to find anywhere to sit. It is even difficult to find a spot to stand. Mervyn's Lounge is not a place to hang out with friends. Come here to get your pre-party cheap drinks. $3 per drink beats happy hour in many places.

    Zen Lounge

251 Castro Street, Mountain View, CA, United States
    7 reviews

Not a bad club given the lack of options in Mountain View downtown. Music was not bad although the crowd could be a bit boring. A little quiet on the weekend. Service is not the best. No one checked on us or refilled any mixer for our bottle service. The dance floor is decent size and not cramped. Lots of ...

This is flippin' cool. Got primo tour & access thanks to another organization. Tour hosts were regular NASA employees graciously taking time from their work to describe what they do there. From flight and venue simulators, to astronomical research, their work is so important to our future!
