Mountaineer Lodge

101 Village Road, Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta T0L 1E0, Canada

The rooms here are nice, but are HOT. Adjusting the air conditioning is a futile experience. Otherwise like many hotels here, you have free breakfast that is plentiful and the hotel is on the backdrop of mountains. Very gorgeous.

We have stayed here three different times in different seasons. The hotel is a great location for skiing during the winter but also for hiking during the summer. Although it is less famous than Chateau Lake Louise, in my view, it is better. The spa is very good. The smaller number of rooms means the staff get to know you ...

2012 UPDATE I stopped by again a few weeks ago on a Warm and Sunny Sunday Afternoon. Unfortunately, ours was a day trip from Calgary and there was precious little time to do anything but scratch the surface of this wondrous part of the Canadian Rockies. This is the place that Gayle would most like to stay in the Canadian ...

Came here for food and had the stroganoff. The prices are of course, astronomical, but this filled me right up. It's also a place with character, being in a basement. You do feel like you are somewhere Canadian/Cowboyish.

This is another Canadian resort hotel that I haven't actually stayed overnight. This property is owned by the same company that owns the Buffalo Mountain Lodge (Banff) and the Emerald Lake Lodge (Yoho). I have previously stayed and dined at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge and I think that this company has a really great service model. And someday I will ...

One of the many highlights of driving the Icefields Parkway is the point where the road crosses the mighty Saskatchewan river. My trips have been in the winter and seeing The Crossing for gasoline and a little something to eat is a welcome sight. The Crossing Resort is a family owned and operated resort and was originally called the Saskatchewan ...

Perched on the edge of spectacular Emerald Lake, the original Emerald Lake Lodge was constructed in 1902. It was purchased by the current CMR owners in 1979, restored, and then reopened in 1986. The Lodge (and Cabins) are well located and maybe to preserve part of the ecosystem and the tranquillity, you have to park your car and take a ...

Castle Mountain is located approximately half-way between Banff and Lake Louise. While looking nearly impenetrable from the Trans-Canada Highway, the peak can be ascended from the backside on the northeastern slopes. The mountain was named in 1858 by James Hector for its castle-like or fortress appearance. Following the post-war visit of U.S. president Dwight D. Eisenhower, the name was changed ...

Emerald Lake really is the the colour emerald. Gorgeous! We did not stay at the lodge but wandered about and had lunch on their patio. There is no cell phone service and I believe they don't have tv's. It is definitely for getting away from it all.

I stayed here several years ago and before the Cathedral Mountain Lodge built a new Lodge and a restaurant and the Kicking Horse Ski area came into being. When I was there, this property consisted of several well-appointed cabins and a central store (with a small dining room). I came here because I wanted to check out Yoho National Park, ...
