Mount Elgon National Park is home to over 300 species of birds, including the endangered Lammergeyer. Small antelopes, forest monkeys, elephants and buffalos also live on the mountainside. The higher slopes are protected by national parks in Uganda and Kenya, creating an extensive trans-boundary conservation area which has been declared a UNESCO.
I love this Mountain park because of its extinct volcano and being the 4th highest mountain in Eastern Africa reaching the hight of 4321 meters,a part from being the 4th highest mountain in East but also has magnificient waterfalls, caves, gorges, and hot springs.
What makes this mountain park stand out is because anyone can access its peaks withought any technical means or equipments
The full trekking takes around 4-5 days to complete and the 3 day trails 3-7 km long
Plus watching the magnificent Sipi falls one of the best falls on the planet
There are 5 basic campsites around the trekking circuit
simple accomodation and access to the park is very smooth thanks to the tar roads from Kampala to Sipi falls
So get ready for this amazing adventure of your life time
