Doesn't take long to see this but it is iconic. It is also the place to catch the boat to Elephanta (weather permitting). A good picture spot and conveniently located to the Taj Palace which is well worth a visit in its own right.

Must take a stroll in Colaba. Love the wedding horse carriages. Obvi it will be crowded and busy. We went around dusk, walked to Gateway and wanted back to a place near but not Leopolds.

    Haji Ali Dargah

    Dargah Road, Mumbai, India
    4.5
    13 reviews

Haji Ali has become more commercialized now with hawkers at every corner, not to mention the beggars, which was a serious mood-dampener. What might have been a pleasant walk on the road to Haji Ali with the sea lapping on either side of you, was completely ruined by beggars who kept wailing for alms. The place was quite dirty and ...

    Chowpatty Beach

    Mumbai, MH, India
    3.5
    17 reviews

Chowpatty Beach is a great place to people watch and pick up local street food. Certainly not the pristine beach you've been dreaming of -- it is dirty, crowded, and can be a bit intimidating. I love it for the atmosphere but it isn't beautiful. A drive along the waterfront is also a must.

    Chor Bazaar

    Kamathipura, Mumbai, India
    4.5
    10 reviews

Not everybody digs this glorified and somewhat pushy flea-market in the alleys north of Victoria Terminus, but you have to admit that it has character. Literally, 'Thieves' Market', Chor Bazaar is the place to go for furniture and antiques of questionable provenance, though it's equally engrossing for anyone with a camera and an eye to street photography.

    Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya

159-161 Mahatma Gandhi Road, Mumbai, MH 400 023 India
    4
    11 reviews

Though architecture students may have qualms with its flamboyant Indo-Saracenic style, the Prince of Wales Museum houses what is arguably the city of Mumbai's finest classical Indian Art. From lavish Hindu sculpture to exquisite Mughali miniature-work, the museum is worth at least a couple hours' time, and the audio tour is surprisingly good.

    Matheran

Adamjee Peerbhoy Road, Matheran, MH 410 102 India
    4.5
    7 reviews

When I visited Matheran, it was pouring with rain and it didn't stop. For that reason, it's hard for me to give it 5*, as I simply couldn't see it a lot of the time. That said, on the rare occasion that the clouds did lift a little, it was clearly beautiful. The landscape is insanely green, with waterfalls tumbling ...
