On our last day in Munich it was actually quite hot and we wandered around this park for an hour or so to cool off. There are numerous interesting statues and fountains and there was a human statue of Beethoven, which is what we remember it by.

You MUST attend Octoberfest at least once, even if you are not a beer drinker. This is a lively, colorful festival with carnival rides, music, many food options, and of course, several large, temporary beer halls. You will see lots of cute, young adults dressed for the occasion in dirndls and leiderhosen.

    Spiridon-Louis-Ring 21, Munich, Germany
    38 reviews

This was the home of the 1972 Olympics. Tours include a roof climb, with ropes & carbiners and bungee jumping into the stadium. I actually stumbled into this when we were looking for the stadium of the World Cup. I went down this metro stop by mistake and we were sure lucky. The views from the stop was great!

    Deutsches Museum

    Deutsches Museum, 80331 Munich, Germany
    21 reviews

On a random afternoon in Munich my wife and I visited the Deutsches Museum, which is located near the river on the east side of town. It's something of a science museum and has exhibits explaining how various industries work. Some of it was interesting, some boring and some incomprehensible. The gift shop is exceptionally cool.

    Neues Rathaus

    Rathausplatz 2, Ingolstadt, Germany
    20 reviews

The New Town Hall tower contains the famous Munich Carillon (Glockenspiel). The square below gets very busy with crowds that flock to see the display as the clock strikes at 11am, 12 noon and 5pm. Be sure to take a set of binoculars, or get there early and secure a seat in the upstairs coffee house of the store opposite.

When I visited Munich recently for the christmas market, I thought Marientplatz was the first square after the train station so I proceeded to walk despite the snow. I'm not one of those people that live for Today and let the future take care of itself. I remember things, try to learn from my mistakes, stay mindful of the present, and sometimes over plan for the future. We live in interesting times and one pattern that I unfortunately see more often is the fast and loose use of ...

    Eisbach Surf

    10 reviews

Five hundred kilometers from the German coast and more than 1,100 km from any surfable ocean breaks, Munich has no reason to be included on any surfer's short list. Or so one might believe.
