Back in the 1700s, the property where Muriel’s now stands was used as staging area for slaves that were to be sold in the area, and several of their ghosts haunt the restaurant. But, they have been mostly appeased by the owner’s blocking off a room for the ghosts and offering them a fresh loaf of bread every day. After ...

Though I could not eat here (gluten-free), I accompanied my husband and ordered myself a Cafe au Lait. My husband loved the beignets, and I loved the atmosphere. It's a laid-back place, even with the hustle and bustle of the waitstaff. Sitting on the patio is lovely.

    Pat O'Brien's Courtyard Restaurant

0.12 mi from Muriel's Jackson Square

So much fun! Go with friends and you'll be laughing and singing all night in the piano bar. It is the best place to try a hurricane. If you don't want to carry around your glass, you can return it to the bar and they will give you back $4.

    Napoleon House

Napoleon House is one of my favorite bars in the country. From its demure stature that hides the volumes of history behind the door, to the deliciously crafted cocktails. Perfect place for that daytime pub crawl you should experience in New Orleans. Go in and prepare yourself for an amazing treat: Pimm's Cup. And the best part is that they ...

Mmmmm. Everyone who visits New Orleans should try this, at least once. And since they have no seating, it is the perfect stop before you head out in search of a picnic spot. There's plenty to be found!

    Antoine's Restaurant

The oldest restaurant in New Orleans is (for me) also the best! For a large restaurant (14 dining rooms) the service is surprisingly good. The food is everything you expect from New Orleans. The dish that Antoine's is best known for is the Oysters Rockefeller. The Trout Pontchartrain is mouth watering and the Crevettes Remoulade is outstanding! If you want ...

    Coop's Place

0.24 mi from Muriel's Jackson Square

I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for great jambalaya, and if you're going to be in New Orleans you must be! I've grown up eating authentic creole food since my father is originally from New Orleans, and this place served great jambalaya, dare I say even better than my old family recipe? Try the fried chicken too. ...

Cafe Amelie looks like a picturesque house with a beautiful courtyard that was converted into a mom and pop restaurant. I love the feel of the place, but most of all, I LOVE their shrimp and grits. They were definitely the best thing I ate in Louisiana. Our table loved it so much, we ordered an extra dish!

I loved this meal! I had the hickory roasted duck, and the pork cheek boudin starter. It was everything I needed at the time. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the quarter. Though, be careful not to over-order, the portions are HUGE!

Ate here the night before the Rock n Roll Marathon, and it was fantastic. I had the New York Strip with asparagus and my fiancee had the Crab Meat Stuffed Shrimp. Yum-o. The steak was seasoned perfectly and melted in my mouth. The shrimp are huge, and had a healthy stuffing full of the crab meat mixture. Although I didn't ...

The dinner I had here was very excellent. Not only was the service great, but the food was heavenly. I remember a Oysters Rockefeller soup - poured once my soup bowl was placed in front of me. The fish was a trout almondine - butter, almonds, fish, with dauphinoise potatoes and green beans. Desserts were lovely too. Their menu changes ...
