The catacombs are part of the San Francisco museum. They are obviously not as large as the ones in Paris, but they once served to bury rich people who paid large amounts of money to be buried in the church, thinking that this would make it easier for them to go straight to heaven.

Entrance to the catacombs is through the San Francisco Church. They offer both English and Spanish docent guided tours and the price of the tour is minimal considering the wonderful arts, exhibits, and history that are presented on this tour that is part art appreciation, part adventure to the subterranean world.Recommended for:History Buffs
