Musubi Cafe Iyasume is the cutest little restaurant that serves a large variety of musubis right in Waikiki…although a bit hidden, it is not hard to find. They are opened early for breakfast (spam egg and cheese musubi anyone?) but most come here to grab to go and enjoy the musubis on the beach.Recommended for:

I miss this place so much! I came here nearly every day during my stay in Waikiki. In fact, on Day 1, I came here TWICE!! I was just in love with their salmon rice balls. They were my absolutely favorite and I kept getting them.
I am gonna be honest. I wasn't a huge fan of the spam musubi bc in general I don't really like the taste of spam. BUT...I did like that thus place had a spam musubi with SHISO LEAVES! I love that stuff so of course I had to get it. It was pretty enjoyable and there wasn't too much rice like on the spam musubis you'd find at Foodland or 7-11.
Be prepared to wait in a line at this place. Even though it is kind of hard to locate, people will still trek from all over the island to try this famous place out. There are only enough seats for maybe 4 people max so be prepared to get the food to-go and eat it across the street at the Hyatt or somewhere on the beach.Recommended for:

Hard to find, in a random side street across the street from the massive Hyatt hotel, this tiny cafe sells various musubi, made fresh daily.
The musubi here CANNOT BE BEAT. They are AMAZING. I HAVE TO TYPE IN CAPITAL LETTERS, THEY ARE THAT AWESOME. Run, don't walk to this place and cram every open space in your stomach with musubi euphoria.

I absolutely love this place! Its a small japanese restaurant located in a tiny alley that could be easily missed if you don't look carefully. I ordered the salmon with spicy roe matsubi and I fell in love instantly! The matsubis are made fresh and are pretty big and filing! I was full after a bowl of miso soup and two matsubis after starving from my hike up Diamondhead. The spam, bacon, and egg matsubi was also pretty good but I prefer the ones without spam. The prices are around $2-$3 for a decent sized matsubi.

cute little quaint japanese musubi cafe in the back alleys of waikiki. they have very reasonably priced musubis and bento boxes that are made fresh to order. each musubi is less than $2. who says you have to spend a fortune eating good and fresh japanese food in waikiki!
