Pleasant souk in Mutrah. Most of what's sold is for locals or is tourist kitsch but, if you look hard enough, there are a few gems to be found.

As old time Arabia as it gets in rapidly developing Muscat, this souq has been in use since well before the Portuguese fortified Mutrah's crescent shaped harbor with forts. As well as European architectural influence, there's the Intricate and colorful Persian style along the corniche and in the facade of a rare Shia mosque hidden in the back alleyways. Be prepared to bargain with the merchants, they've had centuries of experience fleecing the most intrepid traveler.
