I went here with my bf, who is a native to this area, and fell in love! This place has the environment that of a beautiful and calming place! Beach city! Everything was so inexpensive, yet very high quality, the people were courteous, and there were lots of fun activities to do! Dirty Dons had the best oysters and shrimp, and Pier 41 had the best flounder - so flaky, and literally melted in you mouth. I had a very rewarding, fun, and enjoyable vacation! I would definitely go again!

Abuelo's Urban Taqueria is located in the food court at the Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach. This restaurant is much like Salsarita's and Qdoba where you pick what you want (tacos, burrito, quesadilla) then add your meat (chicken, steak, beef) then top it off with what you like (cheese, beans, tomatoes). I had the chicken tacos with cheese and beans. It was a quick tasty treat. I'm not sure how it compares to the Abuelo's restaurant just outside the mall though as I haven't ate there.

Well, I have never seen so many miniature golf places in one place before! Stayed in a lovely hotel right on the beach. Very relaxing and peaceful in the month of October. Lots of places are closed at this point of the year, but you can get a smokin' deal on a hotel during the off season.

When it's all said and done - your experience in Myrtle Beach will be shaped by the things you choose to do and the location/type of accommodations. Depending on the time of year you visit, Myrtle Beach will offer a completely different experience for each season. In the Summer, expect the normal hustle and bustle as you would with any other popular destination. In the Winter and Fall, expect the area to be a lot more chill and relaxed. If you truly enjoy the beach and the simplicity of the Southern lifestyle, than Myrtle Beach is for you. Our beaches have been voted amongst the best in America, prices for accommodations won't deplete your life savings and it's an easily accessible beach destination for those in the Mid-West looking for a quick retreat. MY ADVICE: Don't judge Myrtle Beach based on experiences had by others, visit and create your own experience. If you don't want to take part in the "cheesy" or "touristy" activities - then don't, but at least know that you do have many other options that you'll find enjoyable during your stay. FINAL THOUGHTS: Relax. Enjoy the beach. Watch some waves crash. Appreciate the time away with your friends and family. Myrtle Beach will be exactly what you make it.

It's a great beach with a lot of restaurants, cabanas at some parts of the beach and attractions. The road is narrow so traffic can get really bad. Come park at the beach early and walk around. Don't miss the big Broadway area that is about a mile from the ocean.

Myrtle beach is a HUGE tourist trap. Most of the gift shops are the same, and the beaches over crowded. There are a lot of attractions, amusement parks, tons of restaurants, and shows. It's a nice place to visit, but it's hard to find stuff to do (other than shopping) to fill more than a few day visit here.
