It is the only national park within an African city. You'll find a surprising amount of wildlife at this park, all with the towering buildings of downtown Nairobi in the background. The entrance is at the headquarters for the Kenya Wildlife Service, which is also where you'll find the Nairobi Animal Orphanage and the Nairobi Safari Walk. Get into the park early, then follow up the day with lunch at the cafe, followed by a visit to the Safari Walk and Orphanage.Recommended for:

Lions, leopards, hippos, rhinos, and more running around, and the park is located right in the city. It is literally like having a savannah neighborhood in the city. Wild view-scapes of herds of animals with skyscrapers in the background. Go early in the morning (arrive around 6am) for the cats and other nocturnal wildlife, or in the afternoon arriving around 4pm for the dusk. Get a group together and hire a car.Recommended for:

You might not expect to find one of Kenya's most spectacular wilderness reserves located just on the outskirts of the capital city - but it is. Nairobi National Park is often overlooked simply as an artifact of it's location - people want to get in, out and away from Nairobi for a safari outing. But if you give it a chance, this park will surprise. Abundant animal populations, including one of the highest densities of lions in the country, make this a non-stop thrill ride of a wilderness excursion. Very good park.Recommended for:

It is unique in that it is located in the city, making Kenya the only capital city in the world with a a park within it. There are other undiscovered picnic and event sites. The park also has a campsite.
Another get away spot is the Nairobi Safari Walk that is close to the city. It is great for those who have to walk and view game at the same time. Visitors can also sample out the wetlands, savannah and forests and follow the trail to the woodlands.

I did my first safari in that Park. It's easy to setup a tour there. I saw a bunch of interesting animals but no cats. The park is not that big and you tend to bump into other cars doing the safari making it less wild then say amboseli.
