Love the scenery, food, wine and everything! I feel very fortunate to be living close proximity to such a wonderful area, although I don't visit often enough. From San Francisco, it is about 1.5 hour drive. The drive is not anything special until you enter the region. There are so many winery and vineyard from Russian River Valley in the west to Napa Valley in the east. I much prefer low-key Sonoma to madness-prone Napa.

I could not stop saying "Oh my G-d, look at the view!" I felt like I was in a painting. The fields and rows of grape vines, the rolling hills and beautiful skies... I soaked it in as much as I could as a New Yorker craving fresh air and quiet. Napa and Sonoma Valley is truly heaven.

It's definitely worth a drive to Napa for some wine tasting. Check out Domaine Chandon for some lovely pink champagne and also Folies a Deux. Deelish. For lunch, if you fancy a bit of a splash, you can check out the little sister of French Laundry, Bouchon.

Initially this was an added part of a trip to San Francisco, but I enjoy Napa and Sonoma more. I would like to eventually go back for a visit to just Napa/Sonoma. Absolutely beautiful scenery and great wine tastings !!

Napa and Sonoma is absolutely beautiful! Some of the top wineries are located there. Whether you go for a day trip or a weekend, you will have a fantastic time. There are hundreds of wineries to choose from. Also, some of the top restaurants are located in Napa.

One of the world's great wine regions. The terroir of the wines changes notably from the chalky soils of the flat valley floor, versus the rocky soil on the mountainsides. Be sure to taste at both types of wineries, to see for yourself.
These days, I prefer Sonoma to Napa, due to lack of crowds and lack of pretension. But both are great!
