I always enjoy Nassau and always find something new and different to do there. Atlantis, Cable Beach, a ride on a bus to the local mall, shopping, snorkeling. Never a shortage of things to do here. Hire a boat driver for a few hours too.Recommended for:

Nassau is the capitol and the largest city in the Bahamas. Nassau, like the rest of the Bahamas is washed in tourism money, so you'll see plenty of expensive vacation homes and ritzy resorts. For these reasons, Nassau is not cheap. Regardless, it's the main arrival area to enter the Bahamas and is worth a visit.

Many people say that the popularity of the Bahamas died down over the years, but I believe it still stands tall among its Caribbean siblings. Nassau is not your "stay at the resort the whole trip" kind of trip. Nassau has a nice blend of beach, nirvana, and culture. Someone can spend an entire day at the resort surrounded by activities, or safely experience the ventures outside the resort premises.Recommended for:

Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas and is a popular cruise line stop from Miami on Royal or Carnival.
If you are cruising, you can get off and visit local shops, or take a day pass trip to one of the hotels to enjoy the beaches, pools, and other amenities for about $25. If you have a little extra time, you can go over to Paradise Island, which is connected on the eastern edge, and visit the mega-resorts there, like Atlantis.

Take a taxi to the row of vendors under the bridge. They serve some of the best fresh conch salads and conch fritters ever. The Atlantis hotel has a nice sea aquarium, pools, and water slides.

Best place to go for a first cruise! As soon as you get off the ship everything is there at your finger tips, just make sure to wear good walking shoes. They also have lots of sights to see and allot of culture to learn about. If you plane to do excursions save them for the next stop! Will post pictures later on some of the sights!!

I'm talking about the beach at Atlantis. It's definitely worth the taxi ride (not boat ride to view it). The beach really is a giant long stretch of paradise with clean soft sand and clean blue water. You can ride jet skis there and the banana boats are super fun. If you go around the front of the Atlantis hotel, you can go inside and check out the glamorous casino.

I wanted to tell about a time years ago when I went on a family cruise to Nassau, Bahamas! It was an awesome experience that I will never forget! The water was so clear and blue, I saw neat attractions there, and even learned that the old tv show "Gilligans Island", was filmed there. Wish I could go somewhere like that again!

Nassau is really as touristy as it gets within the Carribean islands circuit. But you know what?! We still enjoyed it very much because we were on vacation and we don't mind touristy as long as we could find us a nice beach front bar to drink in the island breeze....which we did and that was our expectation for Nassau and it was met!

I came here on a Carnival cruise ship and went to Atlantis. Atlantis was AMAZING. For sure it is the BEST water park in the world. I loved every millisecond of the time I was there from start to finish. After we went to Atlantis, we looked around Nassau at shops. There was some poverty in the streets but that was okay. I LOVE NASSAU!

It's true: Nassau is definitely a tourist destination, and there is the cruise-ship crowd to contend with. However, it is also quintessentially Caribbean. For a long weekend (three or four days), Nassau makes a great choice as it is easily-accessible from the U.S. - most especially from the east coast. Once on the island, don't miss going to the Atlantis resort complex. You don't have to be a guest there to enjoy the amenities since you can easily go have lunch, or you can pay a day-use fee and enjoy all of the crazy experiences that are offered onsite. You can also take some time to do some duty-free shopping along the main drag in downtown, where you'll find reasonable prices on many duty-free 'luxury' items such as jewelry and alcohol.
