Best way to go here is to eat as party of one. You will be seated right away. If you show up as party of two then expect an average of an hour wait. They will call you via phone. Their oysters were good but not impressive enough for me to pay more. Their Lobster was amazing... Pricey... But amazing. ...

Great value and location for downtown Boston. Good amenities and rooms. It's attached to a mall and the Hynes Convention Center. So it's the ideal place to stay for conferences there, and a gives decent options for dinner, dessert and shopping in the mall.

A superior property, located smack in Kenmore square. The rooms are large and well-decorated (Kandinsky rather than generic landscapes), and there are four types to choose from: the Junior Suites are plenty huge, with a curtain to separate part of the space into a living room. So many different and surprising facilities are built into the hotel, too, from the ...

The Newbury Guest House was all I imagined it would be. The rooms are fresh, clean, comfortable and modern, but there's also a boutiquey-B&B sort of feel to the place that I really liked. The overall vibe was classy and sophisticated, without being off-putting or stuffy. And I couldn't believe how expansive the place was, as it looks so tiny ...

I've only been here for a conference but the catering, conference rooms and general location are pretty spectacular. I've heard great reviews of the rooms from my co-workers from out of town. Don't come here if you are looking for charm or a spectacular view... But for a business trip, it's perfect!

The next time I have family in Boston, there's a good chance I'll send them here. The prices are super reasonable, but you don't feel like you're in a cheap roadside motel. And the location is convenient, but not so much in the thick of things that it's loud or chaotic. Rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. They're also ...

Tucked away on a side street near BU, the Gryphon House makes a great home base for family visits. But even if you aren't in any way affiliated with BU, the location's pretty central; the Kenmore T stop is just a short walk away, and even the walk over to Copley is doable. But I think the thing that really ...

Boston has several of these types of "Guest Houses," which are quaint alternatives to larger chain hotels. This particular guest house has an inviting, old staircase in the entry way, a small business center with one computer and a printer, and charming, cozy guest rooms that give off a definite B&B vibe. My room had a fireplace and a small ...

You’ll almost certainly have to climb at least one short flight of stairs just to get to the lobby, so if that’s an issue be aware. Otherwise this is a pretty lavish establishment if you can swing the price. Staff is friendly and agreeable, though the front desk can get distracted and leave you waiting for a bit if you ...

“Hidden jewel” is probably the best term to describe the Inn at St. Botolph. It’s hidden because it sits in the shadow of the Prudential Center, but is tucked away in a quiet residential area. It’s location makes it a great spot for a couple to sneak away for a weekend while still being in the city. It’s a jewel ...

This is a fairly unique Courtyard property because it is was converted in 2007 from a historic hotel called 88 Exeter. It is technically not managed under the flagship "Courtyard" brand, so there are some almost boutique-like touches to this hotel that are different from other Courtyards. One of the eye-catching features of the hotel for me was the old ...

The lobby, which houses an attractive lounge and dining area, is framed by enormous glass windows that make you feel as if you are sitting outside at the edge of the harbor. And if the weather's good, you can actually relax and dine outside on the adjacent patio. ...

I'm personally more partial to hotels with a bit more character and a boutiquey feel, so Hotel 140 was right on the mark. Not to be confused with a motel in the middle of a city, the Midtown Hotel has long stood as a mainstay of budget hotels in Boston. For how long? Judging from appearances alone, I would say since the 1960’s. Yes, it seems outdated. Yes, it reminds me of roadside middle-of-nowhere motels. Yes, ‘funky’ can be properly used to describe ...
