Best way to go here is to eat as party of one. You will be seated right away. If you show up as party of two then expect an average of an hour wait. They will call you via phone.
Their oysters were good but not impressive enough for me to pay more.
Their Lobster was amazing... Pricey... But amazing. I would recommend getting good the hot version.
Their cioppino was pretty good as well... Again it's pricey but worth experiencing.
If you're fed up with waiting then there's a lobster roll shop that's pretty awesome for its price next door. And they come with a bag of chips.Recommended for:

Neptunes is in the heart of little Italy. The lobster rolls are famous here for good reason. It's a bit pricey, but worth if because it's that good. The wait is always over an hour, but there's a ton to see and do in the area to entertain while you're waiting.Recommended for:

Go for the clam chowder and their lobster roll! Their lobster roll is made absolutely to perfection and the clams in the clam chowder is so fresh that you could taste it. Rated number 1 clam chowder in Boston by the Improper Bostonian.Recommended for:

A little bit pricey, but the oysters are fabulous! :)
*don't eat the bread or crackers? it's not worth the stomach space
*the lobster roll was good, but it's all about the oysters here :)
*get the kusshi oyster: it's small, but it has a zesty cucumber taste
*come here for a snack instead of lunchRecommended for:

This is such an amazing seafood restaurant that it's not a mystery why the wait can get up to 3 hours. The restaurant is small and has maybe 5 tables besides seating at the bar. You can drop in and put your name on the waiting list. They will let you know approximately how long the wait will be and call you when your table is ready, so you're free to roam around the area (maybe even get a snack and a cup of coffee to calm your hunger). They have about 15 different kinds of oysters, which all have a different, but delicious taste to them. The scallop entree is a must try, as are the fried clams (so much better than normal clam strips).

Let's just start with this: It was worth the 3 hour wait. Get there early, give them your number, and they'll call you when your table is ready. In the mean time you can just hang out in the lovely cafes in the surrounding area. This place serves the best oysters I've had, and all the other (cooked) dishes are also exquisitely put together. Can't wait to go back.

-Tuesday Night Review-
There's a million seafood restaurants in the New England area and Neptune Oyster seems to be one of the top! Expect a tiny restaurant, expect a crowd, expect a wait, and expect EXCELLENT seafood! The wait can be one to two hours long depending what time you get here. Come here by 5pm if you want to eat within a reasonable time; it's busy here every night! hint hint, this restaurant doesn't take reservation.
Here's my take on my order:
Triton Plateau ($58) : This is one of their seafood platter (Neptune Plateau is double the amount) that offers you a tasting of their best offers. 6 raw oysters, 3 raw clams, 3 raw little neck clams, 8 cooked and chilled mussels, 3 gigantic shrimp cocktail, a bowl of crab mix, and a bowl of lobster mix. This was the BOMB! The portion is enough for two people if you decide to share an entree later on, but if you want to order this as a taster, it's enough for a party of 4. Everything on the platter was so fresh, it literally feels like the shells were just opened in the ocean....drool! It's an absolute steal because the portion was go generous. If you're visiting and want a seafood experience, get the platter and you won't regret it!
Lobster Roll ($25): Their most popular dish and I can understand why! The lobster is fresh and chunky and the meat is generously piled on top of the buttered bread, Oh My! The Lobster Roll also generously comes with another pile of fries (Belgium?). I would recommend sharing the Lobster roll if you want to try other stuff on the menu. In general, there's plenty of reviews on here and they are right, GET THE LOBSTER ROLL!

Overall, I hated the wait, but luckily the food made up for it. The staff was also terrific even in this busy, chaotic restaurant. The only downfall here is their noise level, don't expect a quiet restaurant. I almost felt like I had to yell sometimes to be heard, so come here and enjoy some fresh seafood and expect some loud conversation. Till next time, cheers!
-Lobster Roll Review-
I was asked recently why I didn't give Neptune Oyster a 5-star review and it made me contemplate the core reason. Although the Lobster Roll was delicious, it was lacking.
To be fair, I went there for the second time to truly enjoy the Lobster Roll on it's own with nothing on the side. The chunks of lobster were plentiful on the buttered bun with each of the pieces lightly buttered. What was lacking was the heat (temperature) of the lobster itself. If the lobster chunks were even slightly more heated, it would have been a home run! Besides the temperature, the lobster was also not de-veined with little 'poop' strings in my roll, ew ew ew.
Delicious fries also comes along with this dish that seemed to be double fried for your tasting pleasure. Overall, do get the lobster roll and enjoy. Can it be better where it's a slam out of the park? Yes! Until then, I would still recommend this place and get your $25 Lobster Roll!

Best restaurant in all of Boston! Highly highly recommend. Amazing seafood - oysters, champagne, and the most amazing lobster roll on the planet (one of the few hot versions in Boston). Unfortunately, this place has gained popularity in the guide books as of late so very hard to get a table, impossible if more than 2 people. Go late afternoon on the weekend after exploring and don't be scared by the wait time they give you - it's always much shorter.

No wonder this place garnered such great reviews from the crowd. I was happy to be able to stop by here on my last day in Boston and experience the coziness of Neptune Oysters.
We were immediately sat at the bar (the tables can fit at most 6 people and the whole place probably fits 30 max) even though it was around lunch time and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't too packed. Our waitress was very knowledgeable on the oysters list and recommended us some choices that we loved. Cafe Breton (or Cave Breton?) was delicious!
This place has a healthy selection of beers and wines, I got some Harpoon IPA and loved its freshness having been there a few days prior at the actual brewery. I love their selection of unique beers right at the counter including ones with pull tabs!
The veal and tuna tartare sandwich was delightful and very unexpected. The combination works better than you think! The fries are delicious and the whole atmosphere was just so inviting and warm. I wanted to stay there forever. I wish there were places of such caliber on the west coast!

LOBSTER ROLL!!! It's my personal favorite place to get a lobster roll ($25)! Mmmm so good! The restaurant is SUPER tiny and in the Little Italy area. So after your meal, wander around the streets of Little Italy! Find cafes, gelato shops, bakeries, and italian markets near by!
