OK, everything is deep fried here, but this seaside institution has been serving up great seafood since the days of the beach boys and you still get that vibe when you come after a day on the beach for a great meal as the sun sets on the Pacific.Recommended for:

I'm surprised by how many people visit this place despite the high prices. Maybe because it's somewhat of an attraction after Fast and Furious put this place on the radar! They have a very big parking lot with quite a few spaces. And people come in and out of here so often that there is usually always spots available. They don't allow dogs in here despite the fact that this place isn't exactly a gem to eat at. There's a seafood side as well as another side with the fried food and hamburgers. Also an ice cream side, but didn't look open when I walked by. Pick up your drinks and chips and order your food at the cashier. They are ready pretty quickly. The hot food side needs $10 min to use credit card but because they were out of bread bowls, my boyfriend and I went to the seafood side. There wasn't a minimum charge (or a line), so we got the food right away.
It's definitely pricey for the amount of food you get. Tables are free for all and there's an inside section, an outside but with a roof covering, and a patio section. They don't clean the tables regularly. The clam chowder bowl was almost $9, and there wasn't too much soup to fit into the bowl itself. The soup was pretty good, and very tasty. Lots of potatoes and clams. I liked it better than Souplantation's clam chowder! However, I have to say that it wasn't worth the price as Boudin has a cheaper and tastier clam chowder bread bowl, too. The bread was cold (I guess the soup is supposed to warm it up), and a bit too hard. The one at Disneyland is even better. :X
We also ordered fish and chips. Two small pieces of fish over a bed of fries. There's unlimited tartar and cocktail sauce as well as ketchup and lemons. But ... for two small pieces of fish? Meh, it was okay. The price was $9, too. Drinks are expensive. A root beer runs $3 and their Arizona Green Tea which normally is $1 was $3 here, too. Napkins are hard to grab, the restaurant is quite dim. I also feel extremely thirsty after eating at Neptune's.
Another note, this restaurant has bathrooms, but they are outside porta-potties. They smell really bad, but they have included a sink and soap! For the price of the food, I probably will not be coming back here again.Recommended for:

I seem to be the odd one out, but I didn't have a very impressive experience when I was here. The burgers my dad and I ordered were good, but nothing special - I've had plenty better elsewhere - and my uncle's calamari was tough and chewy. The service was unfriendly and even rude - the cashier stared at me like I was a lunatic when I asked if they had any alternatives to thousand island dressing, and I was accused of using a fake I.D. when I handed over my driver's license to buy a beer. And there were bugs crawling on the windowsill next to our table. For a local haunt with such a soaring reputation, I expected much better, but perhaps I should give it another try another day.Recommended for:

A classic road-tripping stop near the Ventura / LA County line, Neptune's net is where surfers in wetsuits, Harley bikers in bandannas, and kids with sand between their toes all chow down on fresh seafood at outdoor picnic tables. The classic fish (or scallop or shrimp) and chips combo is pretty filling, or you can splurge on something just pulled out of the saltwater tanks.Recommended for:

Neptunes Net Seafood, up at county line, is the kind of really fresh seafood I love. I’m a flip flop guy; the crowd, the surfers, bikers and people that frequent it make this place what it is. I love the overall casual atmosphere, it’s like a beer garden in Germany with one of the most epic views of all time. It’s the best place to indulge in fresh seafood in the afternoon. They do a lot of fried food and burgers but the steamed fresh shellfish is great. They have incredible shrimp and clams.Recommended for:

Not a bad place at all. I came in with an open mind. Read mostly good reviews here.
I ordered the Knuck Jr. burger and my gf got the Crab cake burger. Mine was actually way above my expectations. Slightly better than fatburger and the habit (they own in-n-out any day of the week).
The crab cake burger, however, was on the mushy side. Lacked the texture and firmess of a well-made crab cake.
We also had some clam chowder and seafood ceviche. Very, very good ceviche.
The food was good. They have good beer (blue moon, anchor steam, etc).
I'd say the only setbacks are the drive coupled with the cost. Hence, the 4 stars.
Overall, a good place to eat in a city filled with really bad food at times.Recommended for:

Cruising down PCH and looking for a great place that overlooks the beach, this is a great option. Don't be intimidated with the amount of bikers that come here. The food is great. You have two sides, one is the fried side, and the other is the boiled and chowder side. I tried the classic fish and chips, with a tall cold Smirnoff Apple, hey, I wanted fruity that day OK. The wife had a tall bottle of rogue to go along with her Tuna Melt. Great times!. The Tuna melt was great, it melted in your mouth. The Fish and chips were oook, one was overdone and the oil was left overnight. Next time i'm rolling with the chowder.

In Surfin' USA The Beach Boys sing about surfing at the Ventura County Line. Directly across PCH from Neptune's Net is the spot. This is a hamburger stand whose most popular items are seafood. It is a surfer hangout that is also a favorite of many non-surfers including weekend bikers - on some weekends you may see several hundred motorcycles parked in front of and around Neptune's Net.

Southern California has few places you can grab classic east coast seafood but Neptune's Net has all the fixings. I love to come here after a hard surf. Get your fix of fried clam strips, chowder and peel n' eat shrimp, it's a surfer and biker's hangout that's a must stop if you are driving up the coast.
