Utrecht is a lovely and less crowded city than Amsterdam. Instead of coffee shop, there are lovely cafes on cobble stone streets. Houses line the canals and bikes are ubiquitous! My favorite cafe is Cafe Orloff!

and there we are...a second home to me: The Efteling, the parc, flowers, fairy tale sights, for 60 years already the main attraction for families in the Netherlands and far surrounding. a great day or two out, lots of things to do, unfortunately smoking is allowed. nothing like major other family resorts...just very Brabants..

Delft is a charming town and everything you wish Amsterdam was (but is not). It has a great flower market and market day on Wednesdays, and the two cathedrals are lovely. The canals are small and beautiful, and of course, you can experience the pottery. Very easy train trip from Amsterdam or the Hague.

Good city to visit for one, maybe two days. If you plan a visit to Tilburg, you can best do it when it's 'Kermis'.

Leiden is a wonderful city in the Netherlands. It is a college town. It was not bombed to death during WW 2, so the original houses pre-WW 2 still remain and give the city loads of charm. It is located on the train line half way between The Hague and Amsterdam, so it is quite easy to ride the train ...
