New Mexico is an incredibly diverse place both in terms of setting and demographics. Founded as a Spanish colony with Native American communities that go back centuries, New Mexico has a fascinating history. Here they also set off the world's first nuclear weapon.

Description

The southwestern state of New Mexico is a culturally rich area that has maintained its Native American and Hispanic roots in various cultural, demographic and economic ways. Many New Mexicans continue to speak a unique Spanish dialect. One of the largest cities, Albuquerque, is home to the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science and hosts the annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. New Mexico's landscape is comprised of both arid deserts and snow peaked mountains, and a number of national parks are available for visitors wanting to expore the state on foot.
