    Le Pavillon Hotel

    Class:
    4.5
    6 reviews
Excellent! - 92% of guests recommend

This is very classic hotel with elegant decor proper to the New Orleans flavor. The pool at the rooftop is a plus, but the best part is the late night snacking buffet across the reception desk. This hotel is not right at the French Quarter but it is walking distance to the main art galleries.

The Royal Sonesta plays host to many of the tastings and panels for Tales of the Cocktail, the annual meeting of spirited minds from around the world. Your typical W - good location, high energy lobby, small rooms, dark hallways... Staff was real nice. I prefer the W in the Quarter to this one, but I'd stay here again.

    The Columns Hotel

Very Good! - 82% of guests recommend

I’ve stayed at The Columns Hotel several times, and even though it’s a 10-minute (at least) ride on the St. Charles streetcar to get into the French Quarter, the romance of the place is worth the trip it takes to get to Tourist Central. Built in 1883 and listed in the Registry of Historic Places, The Columns grips you from ...

Excellent! - 89% of guests recommend

The courtyard of this hotel, complete with heated saltwater pool, makes it feel like a mansion you wished you lived in. It's slightly less auspicious inside, for it isn't new and the rooms aren't quite spacious. It's big on atmosphere, though, and allegedly haunted. The hotel's Orleans Ballroom was built in 1817 and held balls at which wealthy Frenchmen selected ...

Excellent! - 88% of guests recommend

Nothing wrong with the hotel, it's conveniently located, clean, comfortable etc. Perhaps my reviews are skewed by the overall experience in a place, and I didn't care much about the city so I don't care much about the JW. You can get quite good deals during off season, which is basically the 51 weeks that don't contain Fat Tuesday..
