Not sure how to best describe Milon but as an OMG experience. Imagine Bollywood meets a New Year's Eve Indian Carnival. For New York visitors, and heck, for all New Yorkers as well, this East Village spot is a must do. I went for a friend's birthday and had so much fun. Food is really good, Bangladesh originating mostly, and ...

Invited by my cousin, I came to try out their restaurant week brunch menu with very low expectation, thinking that Indian food cannot go wrong and would taste similar everywhere. How wrong was I! The lamb they prepared was very tender. The curry sauce very thick and rich. The naan very abnormally fluffy. I would not come back that often ...

    Saravana Bhavan

    3 reviews

Authentic South Indian vegetarian food for the slightly better off common man is what Saravana Bhavan is famous for in it's head quarters city of Chennai. I wasn't a big fan of it till I lived in Chennai for a few months last year, and wasn't sure how the American (NY) version of it would turn out. Surprisingly, my first ...

    Hampton Chutney Co

    3 reviews

One of my favorite food experiences in NY. Hampton Chutney Co. does a great chutney but they do even better dosas. Unique American / Indian fusion comfort food -- try a classic masala dosa or opt for smoked turkey, spinach, etc. Big and tasty. The tomato chutney was to die for. I could eat the masala deluxe all day long. ...

The swankier, cooler and newer sister location of Tamarind. Gary runs a tight ship and the food is exquisite and service impeccable. Awesome Indian food!

Best Indian food I had in New York, just behind The Muse hotel. The waiters are a bit quiet and the atmosphere a bit cold, but the food made up for it all.

    The MasalaWala

The food was decent but the naan was too bready. There's better Indian food in New York. The atmosphere is a bit loud for good conversation.

    Dosa Royale

    3 reviews

This new dosa spot is a welcome addition to Caroll Gardens. As far as gentrified dosas go, they aren't quite up to the standard set by the Manhattan Churney Company but they are good enough and the atmosphere is pleasant.

    Polash Indian Restaurant

Fabulous take-out food! If you don't feel like cooking, and don't feel like going out, just call their number. Delicious Indian food, on a par with the best I have eaten in India.

Delicious kati rolls (usually meat, cheese, eggs or potatoes, wrapped in a paratha or roti). Kinda on the pricey side for the size, but damn good eatin'.

    Yuva Frontier Indian Grill

On a block lined with Indian restaurants, Yuva has the best food. The restaurant is cozy and dimly lit, your favorite dishes are all on the menu, and the cocktail are tasty--order one instead of the wine.

The food was pretty decent, but it was a tad pricey. For 4 people who had 2-3 drinks each and 4 appetizers in total, it was $170..

    Chote Nawab

Delicious butter chicken and lamb vindaloo, the garlic naan was fresh out of the oven, the mango chutney was chunky and sweet and the service was stellar. My favorite item on the menu is the shrimp biryani in a naan bowl with spicy peanut sauce.

    The Ayurveda Cafe

    1 review

I didn't have high expectations of the Ayurveda Cafe, but went there because my wife wanted to go. Boy, was I glad she made me come with her. The food is great (even though it's vegetarian) and I loved the mango lassi. You can't beat the price, either: less than 10 dollar for a magnificent lunch! Get there when you ...

    Taj Tribeca

Exception Indian. Everything these guys do is high quality. Though most of their business seems to be delivery, the indoor dining space is unexpectedly nice / upscale. They have a number of innovative options on the menu + all of the standards. The rosemary naan is delicious.
