Overall, the hotel is nice, but it's far from the majority of popular things to see and do in NYC. However, one of the pros of the New York Marriott Downtown's location is that it's located in the financial district and within walking distance to Ground Zero and a short subway ride away from Battery Park where you can see the Statue of Liberty from a short distance or take a ferry over to the island.Recommended for:

The Marriott far exceeded my expectations. First of all, it was gorgeous. The decor is fresh and modern, and the Marriot is now so upscale that they sell their own (luxurious) bed linens through a catalog in the room. The location can't be beat. From our window we looked out on the Hudson, with its yellow water taxis speeding past. Three blocks to the south is the bottom tip of the island, where you can lean against the balcony of Battery Park and feel like you're on a boat as the waves ripple past just a few feet away. The Statue of Liberty stands tall in the harbor to the southwest. Joggers, in-line skaters and folks with baby strollers flow past in a happy stream, while kids play on the curving staircase that affords a view of the water from on high. Plus it was a bargain with a capital B -- less than $150 a night in October 2010-- a full $100 below the average nightly cost of a New York hotel room.Recommended for:
