    Balboa Pier

The pier is a popular fishing spot. The fish caught from the pier consist mostly of mackerel and flounder.

    Balboa Island Ferry Inc

    20 reviews

The Balboa Island Ferry is convenient, quick, and cheap. It's only 800 meters between the port and Balboa Island, and with three different ferries running at the same time, there is hardly any wait time. Plus it only takes three minutes to get from one side to the other. Hop on, hand a dollar over to the attendant, and you'll ...

    Balboa Fun Zone

    28 reviews

This place is a bit secluded I would have to say. It's located on a part of Newport beach that is a bit of a hassle to get to because it is pretty much on its own island. They do have nice views though, and the water is pretty clean and blue. However, I thought there would be a lot ...

    Fashion Island

    57 reviews

Let's go for a walk when the weather is nice. At first I never understood the appeal of outdoor malls. I like the cold artificial air that malls provide. My first impression was this great outdoor place with millions of soccer mom/ housewives pushing around fancy strollers and other owners walking or carrying their dogs in a purse. I swear ...

    Corona del Mar State Beach

This is one of my all time favorite beachs. It is perfect to go have a bonfire at, or just spend the day with the kids playing in the surf and sand. The surf here is not great most of the time making it a great place for kids. The parking can get pricey and taken quickly, so if you want ...

    Balboa Peninsula

    14 reviews

Balboa is a great place for the whole family. You have the Balboa Fun Zone (one of my favorite places) with two arcades and ferris wheel. There are shops, restaurants, the pier and bonfire pits. Take the ferry over to Balboa Island too for more restaurants and shops. Get the trademark frozen banana dipped in chocolate.

    Laguna Coast Wilderness Park

    10 reviews

A solid walk through some great wilderness that leads to a wonderful lookout by the Pacific Ocean! Allow three hours for a full ramble. There are insects throughout the hike, mostly bees and ants - they won't bother you if you don't bother them. Parking lot $3 per car, pay by machine. Cash & credit cards accepted.

    Davey's Locker Sportfishing

    8 reviews

My favorite place to get out and go deep sea fishing. About a 35-45 minute drive from the house and you can be boarding a boat with all your friends and family out to sea to catch some fish or even shark if the season is right. If you don't have any gear don't worry, they have rod rentals and ...

Balboa Island Museum and Historical Society

    5 reviews

I love little museums like this one! The small, cozy building holds a number of photographs, documents, and models that detail Balboa Island's history. While it's only open a few days a week, there are usually volunteers there who are quite friendly and more than happy to show you key photos or bits of information. They also sell a really ...

    The Wedge

Really cool spot to see some giant waves and the surfers who ride them. The sand where the waves crash into is pretty steep, so it can create some dangerous conditions -- but that's part of its intrigue. Be safe swimming here!

Duffy Boat Rentals of Newport Beach

    3 reviews

So fun to rent one for a few hours at sunset with a group of friends. Grab a few bottles of wine and some well-paired snacks and you will have a very nice time. The boats aren't huge (maybe 8 people comfortably). You will pass by lots of yachts and if you are lucky see some seals!

If you like plants and horticulture in general you will love this place! It has everything you could ever ask for but the best time to come is around the holidays. It is decorated and has decorations you simply cannot find anywhere else.
