This hotel didn’t particularly stand out. The rooms were perfectly adequate – they all contained a mini bar, safe, etc. – but there was an enormous difference between the standard room, which was quite small and dark, and the other types of rooms, which were significantly larger and airier. The lobby and bar within it had absolutely no personality and in no way made me want to have a drink there. There were also a series of slight inconveniences: the gym is located in another building, the pool and sauna are only open during the summer months, and the restaurant is only open Monday through Friday. Location wise, the hotel is conveniently situated a block away from the Plaza de Mayo and right in front of San Ignacio Church, whose tolling bells give the neighborhood additional charm. Other than that, though, I was not particularly impressed.

The entrance is very bright and warm, which was really nice considering how dead Monserrat is on weekends. There's a very nice restaurant, and everything is impeccably decorated, but feels a bit forced. The staff was professional, but a bit aloof. All in all it was the décor that really helped me enjoy my experience there. The bedrooms usually have white sheets and enough color in them not to feel sterile, and sleeping there was very comfortable, but I'd recommend this place to someone who is very busy and suggest trying to socialize elsewhere.

I was really impressed by the foyer. Everything sparkled and shined to perfection, which was a dramatic contrast to what was going on outside in the street with all the refurbishments. In fact, this hotel acts as a little haven in which to hide from the constant noise and activity of Plaza de Mayo just one block away. It still wasn’t quite my thing though. The sparkles and the shine were great at first, but the attention from the staff was pretty cold and calculated. It’s a huge hotel, with lots of people to attend to, but I’ve been to a number of large hotels in Buenos Aires - and some much larger than this one - in which the attention was still very personalised. I was made to feel like just another number in the queue. It was just too businesslike for my tastes. They also shut the pool down at the end of April, which was another annoying thing to know - I like hotels which can offer the same facilities whatever time of the year you want to stay.

Everything here has been designed to perfection: it’s really sleek and luxurious if a little impersonal. Perfect for businesspeople or couples and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Great location that is really close to the city centre, tourist attractions and San Telmo neighbourhood.
Of the two hotels City is more traditional whereas Towers is more modern. The two places share facilities, including pool and the hotel’s gym, which is impressive and covers 3 floors. Lots of different machines and a yoga/aerobics space too with mats.
The rooms are a good size and they have a pleasant balcony. However, the division between balconies is quite flimsy so you’ll be able to see your neighbour and vice-versa.
The breakfast room is very charming and the food is reasonable plus they have some healthier food options.

Finally a hotel in Buenos Aires with a bathtub!! Technically, the NH City and Tower are two hotels right next door to each other, but they are the same property. It is large, but has a stylish boutique feel, very modern but still quite comfortable and not cramped. The rooms are bright and a good size with wood floors, and have spacious marble bathrooms with a bathtub. The set-up of the bathroom is a bit unusual, but comes off as modern and interesting, with the two large sinks out in the room, apart from the toilet and bathtub room. The location is really great, right in the city center near lots of historical landmarks and sites to see. The front desk staff were really helpful and can offer you a great map of the city! The gym is a bit sparse and lacking, but the rest of the hotel makes up for it.
