If you like to be in the thick of things, then I would definitely recommend the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. Truly ‘grand’, the building that houses the hotel has long been an essential feature of the city’s history. The hotel entrance faces directly onto the iconic Dam Square and the Royal Palace, which is simply incomparable to any other location in the city. The Krasnopolsky, however, is a destination in itself. From afternoon tea at the Grand Café Mathilde, to the always surprising ‘Surprise Menu’ at the Restaurant Reflet, there are satisfactions for all types of palates. The hotel’s events rooms are also one of a kind, particularly the Winter Garden, a large hall with iron beams and all-glass cover. There is even a small chapel! The childcare services and wellness center add to the reliability for comfort when staying at the Krasnapolsky.Recommended for:

I have been lucky enough to stay here on 3 separate occasions.
The hotel truly has the best location I have ever seen!
It is is the heart of Dam Sq, 5 minute walk from the main train station and 1 minute walk into the Red Light District.
The service is amazing, The Winter Garden is spectacular and I would stay here again and again!!!Recommended for:

The Krasnapolsky is both convenient and luxurious, but perhaps most memorable for its exquisite dining. The breakfast room, known as the Winter Garden, not only offers a fantastic spread, but is itself a feast for your eyes. It is apparently an Amsterdam landmark, dating back to 1885. The skylight allows the wide, spacious room to be bright and airy (regardless of the weather), and the iron structure offers a taste of historical elegance to your morning start. (When booking your room, make sure to include breakfast in your reservation so you save money.) Later, sip a cup of afternoon tea and enjoy the view of the hustle and bustle of Dam Square. Then, end your day with a 3-course dinner in the French/Dutch restaurant, Reflet, which is also a historic landmark and the oldest restaurant in Amsterdam. Since the Krasnapolsky has a convenient location for sightseeing the old city, it becomes a top choice regardless of whether you're a busy traveler, romantic couple, or a relaxed vacationer.Recommended for:

Perfectly located in the absolute center of Amsterdam right across from the old royal palace, Kransnapolsky is an institution in Amsterdam. This is where all dignitaries stayed before hotels like the Grand and L'Europe made their entry into high-falutin' Amsterdam lodgings. The rear-entrance empties into the outskirts of the right-light district, which is a strange paradox to the very grand front entrance. The winter garden inside the hotel courtyard is definitely worth visiting even if you are not staying in the hotel.
