This discreet bar hidden between 2 cafes (one spelt with a K) near Old Street roundabout is the best thing to happen to Shoreditch since the Trilby (and has also won the title of Best New Bar in the 2011 Class Awards). Head down the stairs, and you quickly feel like you’re in a 1920’s speakeasy, all very "New York" and sophisticated, so dress up, and get yourself a Manhattan!
The drinks are simply amazing, varied, creative, many unique and the list lengthy – it may take you a while to make your choice, but take your time, the table service is great. BarChick loved the Deep Sea, made from 'deep ocean water' and garnished with a shell.
Plenty to nibble on; fat olives, a board of cheese, spicy meat delights.
What really makes this place is the live music; bands play most days (Wednesday - Saturday) for which a small charge between £3-6 is added to your bill, but it's worth every penny. You'll be spoilt for choice with their eclectic mix of gypsy swing, jazz, and American classics. Then the “Vintage” DJ sets on Fridays and Saturdays get everybody moving.
It’s all super chic; you’ll feel like you’re in a movie. This place is for people watching and fun.Recommended for:

Nightjar has a fairly old-fashioned atmosphere, all prohibition/jazz/American cocktails-style. It's always fun and seems to be the place where most nights on the Roundabout end up, particularly during the week.
The queue to get in can be annoying however.

A cool speakeasy bar near Shoreditch area. It is on city road nestled between some kebab shop and a phone shop, if you don't look for it, you won't find it. One thing that is quite annoying about this place is that they don't allow any standing customers, so you have to wait outside for your table. Of course the line outside makes the bar seem more crowded than it is. When it is finally your turn, you walk down to the dark basement. They have a huge cocktail menu and I have to say their drink presentation is nice and original, well, can be overly girly according to my friend. The tasty cocktail definitely makes up for the wait. I suggest go there early for a cocktail and head somewhere else. Good place if you want to have a sexy and intimate date.
