If you want to enjoy Seattle summers on the lake, then this is where you should go to rent kayaks or paddle boards. I've done the kayaking thing, and it was so much fun! You are charged by the hour, and we rented the 2-person one and were just out on the water for a few hours, soaking up the sun and enjoying the gorgeous views of the Space Needle, buildings and you can check out the cool house boats on the water too.

Seattle is my favorite large city in the country, and seeing it from kayaks on Lake Union is the best way to experience it. You can rent single or double kayaks from the NOC and take off in any direction onto Lake Union (don't get too close to the locks or you'll run into ship traffic). Wander through the houseboat communities, take a photo of the Space Needle from the water, dock at Ivar's Seafood Restaurant for clam strips and chowder (they have a dock for small boats and kayaks).
