What can be added to what's already been said, especially since they've cleaned the exterior & glass. The first time I walked into Notre Dame, I looked up and whispered, "Now I understand Bach." We've been to Paris many times, and Notre Dame is always a must stop. Be sure to wander around back to the gardens. And if you know someone with a little clout, try to wrangle a visit to the balcony where the organ sits.Recommended for:

I'm a huge fan of architecture. If you're visiting Paris, you must check out Notre Dame. Admission is free so you can do a quick walk-thru or stay for mass. The style of architecture is known as French Gothic and it took about two centuries to be completed, finally in 1345. The stained glass is stunning and the cathedral has some amazing buttresses. Of course, pictures don't quite do it justice but I was able to capture some really good ones at dusk. It can be seen from the Seine of course and if you take a cruise down the river, there are some great views to be had. We did a night cruise and a bus tour. Inside, photos are allowed but no flash photography. It is after all, a place of worship.Recommended for:

Nôtre Dame is the most beautiful gothic construction in Paris, in my opinion. What makes it more special is that you can take a tour to the very top of the church and see its roofs, bells and gargoiles from real close. There is no elevator, you have to climb up more than 400 worn out steps, but it's definetely worth the view.Recommended for:

Beautiful Gothic Cathedral. The rose window is really a work of art. The relatively recent cleaning of the facade has made the church even more beautiful, as you can see what it must have looked like several hundred years agoRecommended for:

The powerful outlook of Notre Dame de Paris is remarkable. In a bright day, the cathedral is shining bright reflecting the sun. One of the world's best Gothic architecture building, every side is inspiring. Walk around the cathedral to see the structure.Recommended for:

Don't be deterred by the long line that you'll undoubtedly face at the entrance to Notre Dame. It moves quickly and it's worth the wait! Best of all, admission to the church is free (climbing the stairs to the top will cost you a few Euros) but I don't think shelling out the extra dough is worth it unless you are a big fan of gargoyles or sweeping city views. The church itself is magnificent and should be on your must-see list while in Paris.
As a side note: there's a fairly clean and monitored public restroom right outside the church. Since public toilets are hard to find in Paris, I recommend you make a pit stop here if you are in the area.Recommended for:

Beautiful architecture. My favourite part was just sitting in front of the church and absorbing the beauty in front of me. Also of interest was the archeological museum that takes you underneath the church to see the ruins of the ancient settlements on the site.Recommended for:

Try to go on a Sunday during mass. The Cathedral itself is beautiful but the mass makes it even more enchanting. The singing, the music and the atmosphere created make it totally worthwhile, even if you are not Catholic.
If you can't make it on a Sunday, visit anyway, as it is one of the most inspiring interiors in any church: the organ, the rose windows, the overall architecture. Unfortunately, I couldn't go up to the observatory, but they say it's an incredible experience as well.Recommended for:

Walking up to this awe inspiring building on a cool fall morning just took my breath away.
I had to stop...and look...and look.
You must avoid the crowds so you have a more intimate experience with the building - the stained glass windows, the many archs, and just the intricate details that were put into the creation of this building.
Do yourself a favor and take your time, just be respectful of the religious sanctity of the building.Recommended for:

One of the most beautiful buildings in Europe, the Notre Dame is absolutely mind-blowing. Get there in the afternoon to catch the light through the big stained glass window in the front!Recommended for:

One of the most popular catholic cathedral's in france. Each first friday of the month you can view and kiss the Crown of Thorns of Jesus and the Nails used for his crucifixion. In my recent visit to this church, I noticed the line outside is really very long since visitors are mostly tourists. They will allow you in without lining up if you will attend Mass.Recommended for:

IMPORTANT... DO NOT be scared away by the long lines (like I was originally)! Not only do they move SUPER FAST but it is also free to enter! The experience was much better than anticipated for one of the world's most famous landmarks. They even do free tours throughout the day in different languages. Definitely worth seeing and going into! It was really amaing because the church is 850 years old! Much older than most churches and it looked completely different than in design than it's younger siblings around Europe.Recommended for:
