While neither the Novotel nor Clarke Quay would have been my first choice for a stay in Singapore, my cousin's corporate rate was just too good to pass up. And we were happily surprised at how wonderfully everything worked out!
The hotel itself is pretty nondescript as chains often are, but our room was spacious, quiet, and had entirely modern furnishings. The hotel is pretty much in Clarke Quay and so there were a plethora of restaurants and bars nearby (including a Starbucks next door), though a decent breakfast was harder to come across (Central Mall across the street has a branch of Ya Kun). The location is central to most of the city and the MRT is also handy. Wifi charges are expensive, which really was the only annoyance, but it is offered for free in the lobby.
The Novotel is a good choice for those on a budget and we also found Clarke Quay to be a nice, centrally located alternative to Orchard Road.Recommended for:

If you want to be at the heart of the action, this is the perfect place to stay in Singapore. The Novotel is in the middle of Clarke Quay which has so many restaurants and bars you could try a different one each night.
It looks dull from the outside, but inside the hotel is newly renovated and very modern. The rooms are a good size with bright pops of color from the sofa and pillows. All the comforts of home are provided like TV, DVD player, mini-fridge, and wifi (or guest computers in the lobby if you didn’t bring a laptop). If you’re lucky you’ll get a room with a balcony that has a great view of the Singapore Rive, but you’ll have to ask the staff to unlock it. The pool area is also a great place to relax and has lots of lounge chairs and cabanas.
I also loved that there’s a mall connected to the hotel with a supermarket and a Starbucks!Recommended for:
