This is a beautiful place to stay – both of the hotel’s two buildings and the outdoor patio area are really nicely presented in a very classy, understated way. If you have an interest in modern design and/or architecture you will definitely enjoy staying here, both for its current presentation and for its history. Number 31 is a boutique-style hotel ...

The book of Kells is a wonder, and the Long Room itself made an impression on me despite getting a lot of that in Cambridge. But also worth exploring the college.

    St. Patrick's Cathedral

    0.84 mi from Number 31
    19 reviews

Is considered the National Cathedral and is Ireland's largest church. Very lovely church with centuries of history. If you are lucky to listen in on an organ concert it is pretty cool. Also, if you are a fan of Gulliver's Travels you can check out Johnathan Swift (the author and former dean of the cathedral) is buried on the grounds.

A free museum within the Dublin Castle complex that houses a large collection of illuminated religious texts. Definitely not up to the same status of the Book of Kells, but many really interesting artifacts and displays.

My 11 year old daughter was fascinated with the stuffed animals. My wife and teenager took a pass. This is old school taxidermy, not for everybody. Oh, and it's free!

Great people watching and you're almost guaranteed to hear some great street music. I've heard anything from opera singers to salsa bands. It's also a good shopping lane with smaller lanes branching off to great restaurants and more shops.

    Davy Byrne's Pub

    0.62 mi from Number 31

James Joyce referred to the pub, Davy Byrnes, in his immortal Irish novel, Ulysses, and the bar (still retaining its original art-deco interior) and it's arguably the most famous pub in the city. And rightly so. Irish history and camaraderie are alive and well here in this spirited pub, situated conveniently in the center of Dublin, right next to Grafton ...

A perfect place for a long walk in Dublin. Start in the Docklands on foot or bike and follow the path along the canal all the way around the south side of the city. You can go on for miles (far beyond the city, in fact) so be sure to plan your route beforehand. The canal isn't used much any ...

I went to search out this bar as it figured prominently in Rosie Shaap's book "Drinking with Men." We were so glad to find this pub. As you can imagine Temple Bar in Dublin is PACKED with pubs. You will NOT find a lavish interior, or traditional music, or any scrumptious food here. What you will find is a pub ...

Nice but very limited but then again it is free! The building was rather large but much of it was closed off so there wasn't tons of artworks to see. But it was nice none the less, and more manageable than most art galleries and museums.
