Nusa Dua

4
33 reviews

It's wonderfully family friendly with big chain hotels and low tide beaches that are shallow for kids to play in. Nusa Dua is a nice stop on your Bali trip but, please don't spend all of your time here. Make sure you go to Ubud and check out some of the more stunning beaches during your stay.

Kuta, Lombok (please not to be confused with the eponymous town in South Bali) is the Indonesia you've been looking for and have not found -- a whole coastline of empty white-sand beaches, sheltered bays, and turquoise waters, with great surf breaks for everyone from beginners to experts. There's none of the scheming from Bali, none of the crowds and ...

    Seminyak

I really like Seminyak. Definitely my favorite part of the island this close to Kuta. No doubt, it is well touristed but the restaurants, bars, and hotels here are a bit more classy and it isn't quite the meat market that you'll find in Kuta. A good compromise between a desire for nightlife and infrastructure and the desire to get ...

Try to be here around 5-ish and catch the Kecak dance performance. The performance will last about one hour. Look up at wikipedia to learn more about Kecak dance. What impressed me the most is the sunset during the performance.

Legian beach is a quiet(er) beach in Bali, just next to the Kuta Beach. Same beach, same wave, same sand to Kuta but friendlier people and less hustle and bustle of the street vendor. You can rent beach chairs for IDR 35,000 (vendors will open up at IDR 50k) each.

Batubelig used to be a bit of a party beach but all that has been stopped by the authorities and the buildings have been knocked down. I like it simply because it's a little out of the way, quite but not too far from the action. Go to the left and have a meal on the beach, it's just great! ...

    Ubud

    103 reviews

No trip to Bali is complete without visting ubud. Rice terraces carved amongst river gorges makes a stunning setting. You're exposed to much more of Balinese culture and life here. Hotels and inns are studded along ricefields, right next to villages. There's a fair bit of commercialization but if you look hard enough, you can experience the unique culture.
