Nusa Dua

33 reviews

It's wonderfully family friendly with big chain hotels and low tide beaches that are shallow for kids to play in. Nusa Dua is a nice stop on your Bali trip but, please don't spend all of your time here. Make sure you go to Ubud and check out some of the more stunning beaches during your stay.

The whole peninsula of far eastern Bali is known as 'Amed' (technically just its easternmost town), and though it's hardly undiscovered territory, it can easily feel like it after the crowds of South Bali and Ubud (and even Padangbai!). The diving here is fantastic and there is not much else to this little town. There is a wreck dive, a coral garden and a dropoff all in the same area from a great beach entry. Highly recommend diving here. If you get the chance, stay overnight and do a night dive on the wreck as well!

    Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida -- the big island off of South Bali's Bukit Peninsula -- is as far 'off the map' as you can get in Bali. There's almost no tourist infrastructure (I counted two guesthouses in the island's major population center), and most of the economy consists of seaweed cultivation, making the whole of the island smell something like a cross ...
